Could always just read it yourself, from the most trusted name in headphones.

Beats Solo 2 Review

"If you were once a fan of the Beats Solo 2, there are plenty of other more modern Beats products like the Solo Pro or the PowerBeats Pro, but the Solo 2 are not worth the money."

Reviews are subjective opinions. I have listened to Beats, Bose, Sony and ancient Koss PRO4AA. The Beats were the worst of the bunch. Still are, always will be.

Reviews are subjective... except when Tyll is involved, who supplies scientific graphs and explains what those sound like and what to listen for. You see, your ears might be subjective. But the actual measurable sound waves created are objective. And those can be displayed as a graph. Sorry you don't know who Tyll is, you must not be the audiophile you seemed to portray yourself as.

I never claimed to be an audiophile. What I have done is produced and directed hundreds of live TV productions, mixed audio for many of those productions, and mixed audio for many live performances. I have worked in video and audio production for many years. People in such activities, with the exception of the hip-hop thumpers, do not use Beats headphones for good reasons.

I love the sound signature of the Solo line, but their on-ear nature made them unwearable for me. So much pain. If these new Studios have improved ANC, USB C, transparency and maintain the sound and comfort of the current model, I’ll give them a definite look. Can’t stand the AirPods Max. Their sound is fatiguing on the high end, the lack of a power button is a joke, the case is a joke, and they don’t stay on my head if I lay on my back.

This ear cup deterioration will also happen on Bose headphones. Had it happen to a pair of mine. I was able to get replacement cushions from Bose. I remember my Koss PRO4AA headphone ear cups also doing the same thing. But I sold those headphones, which was a mistake. No noise cancelling but a truly awesome sound and comfort.

I don't know about Sony. I suspect it is a problem with most high end headphones. Making the material comfortable to wear over the ears and provide a seal requires material that is not meant to last forever.

I still like my Bose.
Say what you will about the price of AirPods Max, but the ear pads are insanely good. Mine are the light gray so they get dingy fairly quickly but I've been able to throw them through the washing machine multiple times now with no ill effect. They look brand new, well over two years in with daily use. No fraying, no discoloration, no change in the feel of the memory foam underneath the mesh. Yes, they're expensive but I really think this is a classic "you get what you pay for" product.

Never again — horrible build quality. Bought two of them and both bands cracked even with minor force. I take care of my equipment, but I'll never sink money into Beats over-ear cans again. I have been using the AirPods Max for over a year and will never go back.

The measurements that can't be fudged... are objective. Objective. Repeat after me... objective. You can't argue with science. Objective. He'll point out where his subjective feelings are as he interprets the results. But the results are the results.

Senhisser are my favorites. I had a great set back in the 80s'

since some people mentioned deteriorating ear cushions, i just checked mine and they are falling apart. i hardly ever even use them and they live in a drawer undisturbed. wow, these are some crappy quality.

Maybe Apple is going to release multiple new Beats headphones. They discontinued a few of them fairly recently.

Just had my beats studio go flakey and cracking on the ear cups, wasn’t used for ages and in the case, 2 weeks of recent use and it’s even winter here so no moisture.
Will apple replace them or no point trying?
