Great Apple! You are only 5 years late.

Apple is so behind in os tech its ridiculous, yet their fans claim it's the best is in the world.

So you imagine the reason iOS does not have multi tasking is that Apple is behind and lack the technical know how to implement it. That's just precious.

Let me guess....Scott Forstall wouldn't have and Steve Jobs is rolling over in his grave. Oh and, 'where's my Snow Leoppard Apple!'. Does that about cover it?

With split-screen multitasking and multi-user support, Apple is getting closer to offering a laptop with an ARM processor.

So iPad Pro will have:
  • 12.9-inch screen
  • Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular versions
  • USB port
  • Split-screen multitasking
  • Multi-user login
  • Keyboard attachment option

So the question is, how much? 16GB iPad Air 2 starts at $500, but with "Pro" moniker, I am guessing the entry level iPad Pro will be equipped with 64GB. So minimum starting price will likely be $700 for Wi-Fi 64GB iPad Pro, going up to $1030 for 256GB Wi-Fi + Cellular configuration.

There are many Pro's who don't need large storage for photos, videos, audio etc. and will be quite happy with 16 GB.

If they knew what they were doing, they would do it first, period.

What is precious is the flood of support when Apple does something first that everyone else copies, but when Apple is playing catch up then the sentiment is they were obviously waiting for the right time to do it.

Apple doesn't break trails, they just pave them so the hipsters won't trip over the stones.

MR has turned you into a cynic... ;)

I think Apple had multitasking around 1985.

Of course the challenge is to create multi-tasking that increases the value of the iPad for the average iPad customer by making it more useful and not more confusing.

Smh if this role were reversed, Apple fans would be screaming, up in arms about how everyone is copying them, how Samsung and windows is stealing their ideas.

How Apple revolutionized multitasking would be the topic on every tech site. But since Apple is late... Heck forget that, u will still see those titles even though they are 5 years late.

You do realize one of the reasons Apple may be behind is because of Steve Jobs? According to Rene Ritchie the reason it took so long to get AirDrop for the Mac is because Steve Jobs and Scott Forstall wouldn't approve it. What other non-aesthetic things did they refuse to approve that Apple is now working on?

Exactly, not having it on iOS is a deliberate decision not rooted in technical limitations.

Source?

Sounds like an interesting read.

I figured we'd see these complaints. Personally I think all this news is great and if Tim giving over software to Craig and Jony is partially the reason then good move by Tim.

It sounds like you know what you are doing.. More isn't always better.

Quite the opposite. It's making the concept of an ARM Macbook even more absurd and useless. The distinction between iOS on ARM and OSX on x86 is here to stay.

Yes.
They like to keep it simple, just like their coding standards.
That's why Apple is stable. It's simple but still exposed to security issues.

In other news.
Apple realized they need MORE RAM to support this feature.

I just want the multiuser mode, so I can lock my kids out of things while still having access to them myself.
