What happened to saying no? I top of that, do we need ANOTHER social networking platform? Can't we direct all this energy to something more useful?

This team must have been made of people who were previously in charge of designing new mac hardware. I guess that explains why Apple never updates their computers anymore

Now we know where all of the R&D money went into. AAAAAAmazing...AAAAAAwesome. o_O

Those Videos will look pretty amazing on the new OLED Displays...I bet

I hope not. Stay classy Apple, stick to what you are good at. Even Sony at its peak was not arrogant enough to expand into so many ventures while forgetting its core business they excelled at. Cars....social.....music ....

Sometimes you're better off just buying a company. Find an up and coming network and start there. Social networking has not been one of Apple's strengths.

As if the market isn't already crowded enough. I think Apple may be a little too late to this party.
I 100% agree with this. The last thing we need is yet another platform to slightly modify and share mobile photographs and video on.

And going beyond that, creating something on Facebooks scale which does more than just photographs and video might be a tad more challenging.

That all said, I will be a jerk now and poke fun at the fact that if this DOES happen to be true, when it comes out we will probably be told how ground breaking, revolutionary, and magical this service is by people being recorded in all white rooms.

A small part of me is curious about this, the rest of me is just hoping it's nothing more than a rumor.

It's probably due to Apple's desperate attempt to grow services revenues. If you can get past the big turn off of paying extra for addons like icloud (after paying hardware premiums) that is. Heck, i would if the services were top of the line but they're usually half baked. I do pay the icloud tax because 5gb is squat but kinda draw the line after that. I think the problem is that I'm not happy having to pay this icloud tax just to have enough storage for basic backups or even think about using photo library.

That's a really convoluted way to promote your iPhone Plus's super-camera.

I wish apple would go back for a little while and just stick to hardware...just solely focus on hardware which is what got them to be where they are today, well one of the biggest reasons.

They should've tried to pry Flickr away from Yahoo before they got bought entirely... built in userbase, and does what it does well.

And they wonder why hardware sales are declining

But don't Apple also have another social-themed feature in Apple music which is barely used? Isn't that just another sign that Apple can't do social?

So I'm not sure if I understand the logic.

Apple is trying to increase revenue...by neglecting things that make them huge money (iPhone, iPad, App store, and Macs, for developers) and investing in stuff they have no clue about, against competitors who have been doing it for years. Good one Tim.
