Shazam is one of my most used apps on my iPhone. So iOS integration would be awesome where I don't have to:
1) Slide to unlock the phone,
2) type in my passcode,
3) click the home button to get to my home screen if I'm not already there,
4) locate the Shazam app on my home screen,
5) tap the app to open it,
6) tap the Shazam button in the app to find out what a song is.

And while sometimes, the song is already done by that point

little more much more

with the huge code base already installed for the OS and the basic apps why not link in another 1% and provide all the best services from the best apps as API? you have gone this far to make an OS and platform just put the icing on the cake already. no batteries needed.

I’d rather see more APIs that allow apps to finally integrate with Siri and other apps. To me it sounds ridiculous that Apple is once again cherry-picking a service for some enhanced integration, while setting competitors aside. It’s the same thing with social networks, where I can use Twitter or Facebook, but not Google+ or any other social network. The OS should become more flexible.

With iOS8 just hold down home button from lock screen (touch id) then ask Siri "what's the title of the song?"

I am meaning to just buy the companies for the top 10 apps ever downloaded and integrate their stack directly into the OS as API and iCloud. Make the basic included apps that come with iOS 'feature complete' and expandable again via API.

^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^ THIS^^^^A Thousand times THIS^^^^^^^

With both Android and WP8 you can download any app (linked in, twitter, Google+,Facebook, yelp) thats social media focussed and it will show up as an account on your phone where you can integrate directly into it for sharing and other features universal for social networking as well as unique to those apps/networks... iOS just has a paltry hand full of cherry picked partners. It's very annoying... That's just one example of the many... I long for the day where we have options and Apple doesn't have to have some money gouging deal in place with the developer before we get those options.

I've missed a few songs myself with the seconds it takes to open the app. This would be great.

This has potential! Of course you can simply look up what song you're hearing, but you can also use the sound Siri hears as context for a broad range of questions. You're watching a movie, and you can ask Siri "Where is this filmed?", "who is that actor?", or "what episode is this?". Add IMDb integration and all that information is readily available.

Who cares?! Apple only seems to come out with new features that extract money from your wallet.

Why aren't they working on useful new features?!

This is a useful new feature to some people.

Healthbook.

All features they design are designed to extract money from your wallet because they want you to want to buy their devices.

Woo cares about shazam...

A lot of people I would imagine. My guess is it will be more than song matching. For instance on Android, you can just ask what tv show is on and it will listen and tell you. I'm guessing Apple is looking to do something similar to add more recognition to Siri.
