AppleCare + costs in the UK for iPhone

Can anybody explain to me why the AppleCare+ costs are so much higher in the UK for the iPhone 6S and 6S+ (£109) than the iPad (£79)?

This makes me wonder about the build quality of the 6S/6S+....

Probably because the iPhones are more prone to damage, since people take their mobiles everywhere (whereas an iPad is less likely to move around so much, and therefore will suffer less damage).

This makes sense. AppleCare+ is not just an extended warranty, its also an insurance policy against accidental damage so the higher risk is factored into the cost.

Not only that, some customers are just careless, or they are OCD perhaps and return them a lot for any reason, or the cost of repair have gone up.

More expensive for only the 6s /6s plus. For all the other iphone models its 79. Could just be purely because of 3d touch

People drop their iPhones in toilets all the time. When is last time you read of iPad dropped in toilet.
When last time you read someone sat down with iPad in back pocket.
When last time you read someone dropped iPad from lap getting out of car.
When last time you read someone washing iPad left in pants pocket.
When last time you read someone spilled their drink on iPad at bar or dinner table.
When last time you read girlfriend through iPad against wall because boyfriend texted another girl.

Exactly this - AppleCare+ is primarily an insurance product and the premium is directly related to the risk profile of the device being covered

The iPhone retail price is higher than the iPad so it makes sense that the apple care plus costs more.

It gives me peace of mind. Although I blanched just a bit when I bought it on launch day with my iPhone 6S plus. I walked out of the store having spent £900. Anyhow it gives me peace of mind so it was all worth it.
