Apple is increasing the price of some AppleCare+ subscription plans, reports Bloomberg. Monthly AppleCare+ subscription plans for Macs and iPads are now $0.50 more expensive in the U.S., while annual plans are $5 more.

The price increases apply to new subscriptions, so customers who already have an AppleCare+ subscription for a device will keep their current prices.

The AppleCare+ pricing change follows price hikes on all iPads and Macs due to global memory shortages and increasing component costs. Price increases range from $100 to $1,300.

Apple has not raised the price of its AppleCare One subscription plan that rolled out last year. AppleCare One covers up to three Apple devices with a $19.99 per month fee. Additional products can be added to AppleCare One for $5.99 per month.

Apple previously increased iPhone AppleCare+ plans by 50 cents in early 2025, and prices could go up again when the new iPhones launch this September.

It's good that they didn't increase for people who are already subscribed. It is why I continue to do AppleCare prepaid (2 or 3 year) in case that ever happened but I guess Apple would respect the price you were locked in at. I'm feeling mighty good about buying a maxed out MacBook Pro in April and attaching 3-years of apple care to it.

This is like the shocker headline "Dog Bites Man" only it's "Timmy Bites Apple Users...film at 11"

Somebody's gotta pay for....all that amazing Apple differentiation ?? How are they "Thinking Different" anymore when Apple is just following the AI and constant price increasing herd ?

Well, yeah. The Macs 🖥️ themselves got more expensive:

So this is to be expected I would think

I'm surprised they didn't do this earlier on June 25 along with the product line increases.

Mac, iPad price increase = 1 week warning
AppleCare+ price increase = 3 week warning
iPhone price increase = 3 month warning

I guess good guy Tim is doing the best he can.

Disappointing. While an increase of $5 a year seems less, it could increase further in the future. AppleCare One prices could also increase in the near future. AppleCare+ prices have increased in India too and looks like there will be increase globally and not just in the US.

Pretty sure the marketing guys are not aware of the memory modules in hardware like Apple Magic Mouse, Keyboard and Airtags. Those will get increases after finding out.

If people think that companies would always eat higher costs even with record profits never seen before in human history you are being naive.

There are naive people born every day.

2015: "Apple won't increase iPhone prices since they now design mobile GPUs in-house."

2020: "Apple will lower the cost of Macs since they don't have to pay Intel."

2025: "Apple won't raise prices because they'll pay out of pocket for memory hikes."
