Same thing when people say imagine what A12 could do if it wasn't constricted by housing. Again it doesn't work like that.

Why not? Frequency and voltage both have to be reduced (both statically and dynamically) to reduce temperature to the point where it can be dissipated by the thermal solution. If you have a better thermal solution you can increase voltage and frequency (or throttle it less), and get much more performance.

while repairs on the new 12-inch iPad Pro will cost $649....

Now, THAT is insane.
Why?

There IS no "Component-Level" Repair possible on an iiPad, other than the Display.

That is some hilarious price increases for AppleCare, iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, Apple Smart Keyboard, Apple Dongles, Apple BTO options.

Yes, in Apples eyes, the “average” consumer or even pro-sumer has this much disposable income :p:eek::D
If you have $99 to spend, you have $129.

Thank god for places like iFixit and Louis Rossman. I wish more people knew about them
Louis Rossman is a tool.

Let’s just be honest , these things are not meant to be repaired - that is not good for the environment though :(

I do find the environmental element of these keynotes to be hypocritical, given any damage results in a new device . The energy / resources wasted to refurb these / transport , is not what I would call a green solution .

You are happy to pay more for insurance? With a good chance you will never actually utilise any of its features ?
I pay more than the price of a entry-level 12.9" iPad Pro (2018) EVERY MONTH for Health Insurance, with a $6500 Deductible! And the likelihood of me seeing ANY of that back is so close to zero as to be indistiguishable...

Funny thing is that most of them were using pre-2016 MBP.
That's because Macs tend to stay viable a lot longer than other PCs. Plus, they didn't run around and shoot all new pictures; but rather used ones they had acquired through various means over the years.

Funny enough, i've never bought one for any of my apple products. Not even my macs. Its completely unnecessary to me.

I highly suggest it with the new Macs simply because of the keyboards. Nothing worse than a $500+ replacement outside of the warranty period.

I have the 2016 MBP that I bought used a year later from release. Never a single problem with it so far. I understand the point of insuring expensive devices, I just happened to never need it.

Nonsense. There is no evidence to support your claim.

However Apple's upgrade program is just one piece of damning evidence to support the otherwise widely accepted reality, that they do want you to upgrade as often a financially possible.

That is why they feel the need to make incremental and largely insignificant improvements to the iPhone every year. If they wanted to improve the environment, they would surely go to a bi-annual basis? Especially when we are at a point in hand held technology when those devices are generally faster these days, than the content it was originally designed to consume and that all products sold in the EU should be warranted to work for 2 years minimum.

Action not words. iOS 12 still runs well on 2GB of RAM and iPad Mini.

Prolonged device support, not complaining. This is the reason I like AAPL.

I have $200 to spend, that does not mean I see value for the money, when there are other affordable options for less or free. People always seek for the easiest option, then complain about the price. Why complain a little work to compare wil save you lots.

Given my Apple Roulette with iDevices that drop dead before a year, I am not sure this is worth it to me now. The out of warranty repair prices pretty much guarantee I’ll get a 10.5” on sale, and call it a day or hopefully several years before I even bother with another iPP.

Not sure what you even mean in that regard.

The best alternative suggestion to AppleCare I have heard is to buy your Apple Product (or any product for that matter) with a Credit Card that automagically Extends Product Warranties. Simple and essentially "Free".

You make no sense and have not dealt with the facts that dispute your claim that Apple do not want people to upgrade every year.

To curb the confusion, let’s look at iOS 12, now compare it to how many devices it is supported on with 2GB of RAM. Let’s consider iOS 13, do you honestly believe Apple will drop support for the 2018 iPad that comes with 2GB of RAM. Their could technically restrict it according to the incorporated silicone (A10 or newer), however these chips are still powerful compared to the competition and capable to the job.

The moment includes 3-4GB RAM on the entry devices is when iOS will drop support for older devices in 1-3 years. We have been through this before, why do you seem confused.
