That doesn’t sound correct. It says you can add a device up to four years after purchase. It doesn’t say you needed to have had AppleCare on it.
I agree but that's what I was just told after a one hour phone call. they even sent me documents. they claim it is four years but you had to have apple care at some point during that time. and it wont let me activate it from my device and they cant do it via the phone

I have two devices that don't currently have AppleCare. Both are < 4 years old, one had AppleCare but it expired, the other didn't have it because I was too late to sign up. Anyway, both of these devices are not listed as eligible.
ok so there is hope as that goes against the must have apple care to work theory. that's my issue with my MacBook Pro - forgot to add it and the warranty expires sept 1

Apple needs to be more clear about how AppleCare One works. AppleCare+ is linked to the device, as evidenced by a serial number. I have AppleCare+ for my iPhone and for two other devices that I bought which are used by family members. All 3 are covered by AppleCare+, and all 3 were purchased under my Apple account. However, the other two use different AppleIDs to log into iCloud, so they can sync their own contacts, photos, music, etc.

I called AppleCare to confirm all 3 devices would be covered by AppleCare One and was assured that they would. However, after switching to AppleCare One on one device, the others couldn't be added, because they use different AppleIDs for their content.

So AppleCare One is designed to cover 3 of the devices that an individual uses, like their iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch..... it is NOT designed to cover 3 devices in your household, some of which may be used by other family members.

so far I've added 4 devices but only got refund on 3 of them. the missing refund was from a MacBook Pro that was renewed by 1 year after the original AppleCare+ expired.

I thought we could add older non-AppleCare covered devices to this, but I am seeing "we didn't find any eligible devices" error. I have devices that are only 1 year old, like iPhone 15 Pro.

Try adding it on a different device

I don’t get it. It’s not like any of my 2 or 3 year old Apple products are eligible for Apple Care. If they were I might consider it.

There are ways to hack to make it work. I just added my wife’s laptop that was originally sent on my ID and then transferred to her is the new admin.

This is where I’m scratching my head. I’m paying Apple care on my wife’s stuff, my kids iPads, their watches, etc…

Canada still screwed and likely we will never get theft and loss here....
AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss protection is not available in Canada due to a lack of insurance partners or possibly due to specific insurance laws in the country, according to Apple Support. While AppleCare+ itself is available in Canada, offering coverage for accidental damage and hardware issues, it doesn't extend to theft or loss.
Why it's not in Canada:
According to Apple Support, the reason for this difference is likely due to Apple's insurance partners or potentially Canadian insurance laws that make it difficult to offer this specific coverage.

Already bought as soon as it was available. The included theft and loss coverage is a pretty good deal.

Needs a family plan option so you can add multiple devices from more than one Apple ID somehow. I don't need to spend 20/month for my wife's 3 devices is 5.99 x 3 will do as part of a single sub.

I'm pondering moving some but not all my devices to this. Correct me if I'm wrong:

Leaving the added theft and loss protection aside, this makes financial sense for the first three devices if the existing yearly AppleCare, broken down into months, is more than $6.66/mo, which amounts to $80/yr.

For each added device, it needs to be more than $6/mo, so $72/yr.

So for the old iMac, which I'm paying $60/yr for and which I'm unlikely to leave behind at Starbucks or have stolen, this doesn't make sense, or am I missing something?

My iPhone isn’t listed. It has AC but was purchased as the Apple annual upgrade program. That makes it a no go for me.
