being part of iPhone upgrade program gotta be a common scenario is I'd think the Apple and Citizen have some agreement in place, but I'm guessing that it is not something that can be managed thru the web interface right now but requires manual intervention. so if it makes sense for you to go that rout id contact support
So I just talked to Apple Support. They couldn’t add my iPhone. So not sure why it suggests to contact them.

Apple needs to be more clear about how AppleCare One works. AppleCare+ is linked to the device, as evidenced by a serial number. I have AppleCare+ for my iPhone and for two other devices that I bought which are used by family members. All 3 are covered by AppleCare+, and all 3 were purchased under my Apple account. However, the other two use different AppleIDs to log into iCloud, so they can sync their own contacts, photos, music, etc.

I called AppleCare to confirm all 3 devices would be covered by AppleCare One and was assured that they would. However, after switching to AppleCare One on one device, the others couldn't be added, because they use different AppleIDs for their content.

So AppleCare One is designed to cover 3 of the devices that an individual uses, like their iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch..... it is NOT designed to cover 3 devices in your household, some of which may be used by other family members.
My partner and I use a third, shared Apple Account for our Apple Vision Pro. I signed out of it, signed into my personal Apple Account, added the device to my AppleCare One account, and then signed back into the shared Apple Account. It’s still listed on my AppleCare One subscription.

They really are doing it VERY messily by requiring you to initiate through your Apple Account.

Sufficiently confused here…

My eligible device list includes more devices at 8pm than it did at 11am.

Apple needs to check one of the 3 Mini 5’s in our house in case of damage - but the other two identical Mini 5’s aren’t even eligible.

I have a ceramic Series 5 Watch with AppleCare that doesn’t show up in the list at all, but a ceramic Series 3 with AppleCare does.

Two other Apple Watches on my list show up as eligible, but just error out if I pick them.

The Mrs is trying to sign up, and she keeps getting generic errors that it just doesn’t work upon paying.

The launch of this service rivals MobileMe…

My Mac Mini M4 is 34.99 a year. Over 12 months that is only 2.91 a month
2.91 Mini + 7.99 iPhone + 3.99 iPad = ~15, so this would cost me more.

If it was 19.99 for 4 devices I would think about it, specially if my m1 MacBook could get back on Apple care.

I have a ton of Apple products with Apple care. This might be a massive pain in the ass to work through this with all my remaining Apple care plans.

Out of four devices I added, I’ve only received a refund for one of them (the one I got the refund for was a two year plan that was purchased with the device).

The other three were annual/monthly AC+ subscriptions.

For the two year plan, I got a gift card in my email. Anyone know how they refund the other subscriptions?

Apple Support on the phone told me because I am on the IUP that includes AppleCare + it "blocks" me from adding it to my (less than a year old) MBP or AVP or anything else. "you have to choose one other the other". So odd. Almost 2 hours of them trying their best to help but they could not.

Both reps also noted they first found about Apple Care one "yesterday morning". One was an AppleCare advisor specifically too.

You get back whatever you had paid already at a pro-rated amount.
The iPhone on the upgrade plan wasn't eliglbe for the applecare one since it was already included in the plan. I was able to get my launch day M1 16" Macbook Pro added to the plan though. I lost my applecare+ due to a mishap a while back so it's nice to have it back. The last time I had to replace the screen out of warranty cost me a pretty penny.

I suspect they play somewhat on the expectation that people won’t be dishonest. Just like Amazon bans people for abusing the return system I suspect Apple would do the same.
Apple has been doing the same to warn/ban people who abuses the return system for a while. I almost got myself permanently banned from Apple Store by just having my third return on MacBook Pro, two returns on iPhone and 3 returns on iPad Pro in just 2 years. Apple Store rep even warned me that I should keep existing device or they would take notes of my ID and report me for fraud.

I love it! Especially if all you’ve got are 3 Apple devices like a iPhone with theft and loss monthly, a MacBook Air or Pro that your paying monthly, or in my case, yearly for, then a third device like an iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, etc.

In my case I’ll be spending a little more, but I’ve got 4 devices I just added. An iPhone that had theft and loss that I was paying monthly for, an M3 MacBook Pro I was paying yearly for, an iPad Pro I bought on eBay that never had AppleCare or AspleCare+ as an option when I received it, just the limited warranty, that I wanted coverage for and previously couldn’t get because I missed the window, plus the massively expensive VisionPro that can cost a pretty penny to have serviced after your AppleCare+ expires..

I’ll be refunded for the remainder of this year on the prepaid annual MacBook AppleCare+ I bought for the year and the 6 months left on the Vision Pro two year plan I bought up front. So it’ll be around $26.00 a month and I’ll be adding in coverage for a device that I really wanted to have covered (the M2 iPad Pro that I’ll have for several more years before I even think of replacing it) and can extend the Vision Pro coverage beyond February of 2026.

For me it’s great. I know full well any kind of insurance is basically a scam in that you’ll likely not use it or, if you do, you’ll wind up paying more for it over time such that the insurer gets their money back, but I’ve had to use accidental damage and theft and loss in the past, plus I’ve had to have things serviced, so for me to know I’m covered ASAP without having to buy a new device or spend nearly as much out of pocket as I otherwise would, it’s worth the price but obviously it’s not for everybody. It depends on how much you value peace of mind versus a monthly expenditure that might be for something you never have to use.
