Wow! The camera lens looks really good even though it looks like the housing took some damage. Impressive
The camera lenses are true sapphire crystal so I wouldn’t expect anything less than pristine haha. The surrounding metal ring is another story though :)

Well they are scratch resistant but they are also brittle. So the fact that they didn’t crack or shatter is impressive

Nope! Warranties are a very good profit center for the company. Have never bought AC+ for any of my devices. Have only had 1 screen replaced in the last decade plus. I have saved more than enough to repair any damages.

I sleep better at night when I have AppleCare and plus I ride mountain bikes and do carry my phone with me (tend to take dirt naps).

Good question.

I really don’t know if I should get Apple care for iPhone 13 Pro Max.

I had AC for IPhone X but never use AC, I’m using a UAG Monarch carbon fibre case and screen protector that seem to protect my iphone for the last 4 years. Felt waste of money at the end of 2 years  insurance is always bit of gamble and luck !

Never had to use my applecare+ until this week. I cracked my 12 Pro a few days after ordering my 13 Pro Max.

The peace of mind knowing I only had to pay $30 instead of $279 to repair the screen on a device I need to trade in was great.

AppleCare on every phone. The peace of mind of knowing you can drop your phone and smash it to pieces and for $29 they'll just fix it (or sometimes just give you a new phone) is hard to beat.

Considering the inconsistent battery degradation of the iPhone 12 then I’m getting AppleCare+. A lot of people went well below 90% battery health in just a year and without AC+ they are now are stuck with a questionable/defective battery.

To me Apple Care has always been about the extra warranty not accidental damage.

I baby my stuff no matter what but having reassurance that something will work beyond the first year is great to have (not to mention it can be cancelled and the rest refunded);

I get applecare cause I'm in the IUP but then I ask for a battery replacement cause my 12 Pro is at 85% with just a year of owning it and they basically tell me "you're using it wrong." I might as well crack the screen so I can get a whole new phone.

The calculus is simple. Insurance is to prevent catastrophic loss. Would I be upset if I broke my $1200 phone? Yes. Would it be catastrophic? No.

Consider me self-insured.

I have it on my watch however, I’m still undecided whether to add to my new phone. Last year my XS Max just died, thanks to UK consumer rights, I received a replacement - no need for AppleCare. It’s a very individual choice, for myself, as a very careful individual, over the long run, I imagine I’d be well out of pocket. However, I see friends/colleagues who manage to break the screen on every phone they own. What type of person are you? Can you afford to take a one time hit on expensive repairs or, a new phone purchase? Does the new addition of theft/loss (UK) influence you? For those considering other cheaper phone insurance, does the fact that Apple are more straightforward in dealing with claims a factor? As I say, it’s a very individual choice.

Exactly!! This is why you buy AppleCare+ or any extended warranty really. For peace of mind. If you are comfortable with paying full-price for a repair, meaning that you are at a place financially where you can pay $250+ for a repair, potentially multiple times in a row, then AppleCare+ wouldn't be useful for you. For me and cchs2014, I like knowing that should my phone break, it will be relatively inexpensive should something happen to my $1200+ luxury item :). AppleCare+ is just insurance for your Apple Device :)

The cost of Apple Care+ is worth it too me. If I drop my phone etc it’s nice to know I won’t have to take out a loan to get a new one 🤣. I will also be going for the Apple Care+ with Theft this year.

It gets dropped a couple times a month on concrete, and I don’t baby my devices.

I think I can safely say we knew you didn't baby your devices after reading the first half of that sentence - second half was redundant 🤣

1. Buy AppleCare
2. Throw your case and screen protectors in the trash
3. Enjoy the phone as intended

No thanks. I always buy AC+, but the nearest Apple Store is 2 ½ hours away. If I can avoid those trips, I will. I don't sit around staring at the "beauty" of my phone, I'm perfectly good with having it in a case and screen protector. It's not an art piece and I don't care about savoring the iPhone "experience", I just want a phone that works and isn't trashed.

Coincidentally, a case and screen protector make the phone feel “trashed” to me. I can’t stand the extra bulk, and the screen doesn’t have that smooth feel anymore. It just makes the whole thing feel cheaper. Opinions I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️
