Coincidentally, a case and screen protector make the phone feel “trashed” to me. I can’t stand the extra bulk, and the screen doesn’t have that smooth feel anymore. It just makes the whole thing feel cheaper. Opinions I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️
Yep, to each their own. I much prefer the feel of a case on my phone, and don't even notice a difference in feel with the screen protector.

I'm good with whatever anybody wants to do with their own phone. I'm not paying for it or using it, so not my place to tell anybody else what they should do.

You do have 60 or 90 days to add it.

You have the whole year to get Apple care +. My brother just added it to his iPhone 12 Pro max which had 2 months left of warranty. Now he’s got another 2 years with accidental damage.

That might depend on the country. I’m pretty sure in the US you only have 60 days from purchase to get it.

Never had to use my applecare+ until this week. I cracked my 12 Pro a few days after ordering my 13 Pro Max.

The peace of mind knowing I only had to pay $30 instead of $279 to repair the screen on a device I need to trade in was great.

How much money over the course of time have you spent on Apple care? I’m 48 and have broken one phone in my life. I would never buy it as it just doesn’t make financial sense to me.

Here in Canada it’s up to one year im sure it’s the same in the states. They don’t mention it but you really can do it no problem. A quick Google search and you’ll see.

They are kind of vague but they say most countries can buy it up to 60 days after purchase.

I know on my sons phone he got recently in the settings it allowed him to be able to buy it right from the phone until it hit the 60 day mark.

After the 60 days you just show up to a Apple Store ask to add Apple care plus on your device. They will check your device make sure everything is ok then they will add it no problem.

That’s good to know

I ALWAYS get insurance for devices that I don't want to have pay large amounts for replacement or repair. Typically I got the Verizon Total Protection service, but this past year I opted for the month-to-month Applecare+. This way, when I trade it in for the new phone, I will only have paid $180, vices the full $270.

I opted for the monthly theft and loss with Apple instead of the Verizon Total Protection service. I just funds to my Apple ID for both AppleCare+ and 2TB iCloud storage.

For me it’s necessary with the job I have and also having kids. I’m ocd when it comes to nicks and scratches on my device, so I always use a screen protector and the thinnest case I can find. Plus with my work hours, I only have 1 day off and I’m not going to spend that going to the Apple store to the Genius Bar.

Applecare+ is the only protection I have for my phone. No cases. I used to spend so much money on cases, until I came to the realization that I could just put that money towards Applecare+ and enjoy the beautiful design of my iphone! Also, you can cancel applecare and get your money back for half the full price for the 2-year coverage.

I can’t hold onto them anymore without a case. Well the mini isn’t too bad. But the Pro models are now super slippery!

I'd say NO.
If you're thinking about apple's 50% trade-in deal next year, you've already paid for the trade-in price difference yourself (when compare 50% deal with the regular trade-in price, about 50% of the AC+ price), and you'd cancel your previous AC+ and ideally, you can't get 50% of the purchase price back (there's a handling fee).
And speaking of screen/glass repair price, I don't see much difference in paying the full price to repair, unless you expect to drop more than once in its use cycle.
As for the "at least I can get a free battery replacement" thing, I used my 12 heavily and after 1 year of use the battery health is still 92%, I doubt it can drop below 80% after two years of use.
