What happens if you break your iphone, with applecare plus, 1.5 years after the purchase? What I mean is if you own a 64 gb iphone, isn't there a chance it is not longer available since the new model it out?

They will give you either a new phone, or a Refurbished phone, i'm guessing. Most likely a new one though.

No. Apple has to honor their commitments. There will be stock and Apple will replace the phone with either a new or refurb. unit.

FYI, think about how long ago the 3G was release (more than 3 years ago) and they JUST killed it.

No, they have plenty of refurbished ones. I would think if you had an iPhone 4 64gb and there is a chance for a new one, but other than that they tend to have plenty on hand.

6 iPhones in 7 months. Yep totally worth it:D

Applecare plus only covers two replacements so did you pay full retail price for the other 4.

And you seem proud of yourself for going through 6 iphones in 7 months. Maybe you should think of why you are so clumbsy instead.

Consider the carrier alternative. $150 deductible (or more) with AppleCare+ you get (2) replacements for $50 each. Verizon said I will get information in my box with a phone # to call to order AppleCare+ since I really don't want to go near the Apple store for the remainder of September.

You'll get a replacement unit of the same model, color and GB storage.
Apple policy.
Even though the 3GS is stopped they still have plenty of them for replacements with applecare or out of warranty replacements.

Who said this at VZW? I've talked with several reps, and no one has mentioned this yet.

The only thing they said is that customers will have the option of going to a VZW store to purchase AC+, but it can't be done on vzw.com or via telephone.

AppleCare+ covers up to two incidents of accidental damage. However, it covers an unlimited amount if it's hardware related... Perhaps he had actual hardware issues, and not just broken glass.

As you posted on another thread, verizon cannot do this, in the store or on the phone. You can call Apple and they will sell you AppleCare + over the phone within 30 days. I checked with Apple about one hour ago to make sure. ;)

True but apple would fix or replace hardware issues free of charge in the first year regardless if you had applecare or not. The only way this works as he stated is that he had 0 problems in the first year and than all of a sudden he had 6 issues within 7 months in the second year that apple care fixed. Of course this is technically possible but the reality of this happening is very small.

AppleCare+ is a must! YOu should get it at the time you purchase the phone. If not, within the first month or else you will be in trouble later.

You can call for help any day. The assistance is great!

YES! Its totally worth. it.

I work at a Apple Reseller and I could could tell you some horror stories. Especially on iPads.

Applecare+ for iphone requires going to genius bar if you didn't order it with your phone.

Breaking your phone just once would result in AppleCare being worth it. It's also $199 plus tax so around $226 in Ontario.

I have over 10 cases sitting in my drawer doing absolutely nothing... $20-30 a pop. I've spent a lot of money on cases. This time around I'm planning on going caseless with AppleCare+. It will save me money in the end.

Also, when you do break your phone... $50 is a lot easier to swallow than $200.

It's not $50 vs. $200 it's $150 vs. $200.

*IF* you break your phone you save $50 but if you don't you lost $100.
If I don't break my phone it costs me nothing and if I do I lose $50

I'd rather take a chance and lose $50. You're paying $100 on the off chance you'll save $50.

Applecare+ is pretty much a rip off. Sure, you get a new phone for $150 if something goes wrong...but you spend $100 if nothing ever does go wrong.

Apple will replace your iPhone for $200, no questions asked, as long as it hasn't been lost or stolen (things Applecare+ doesn't cover anyway).
So basically, if something goes wrong, you only save $50 by having Applecare+, but if nothing at all goes wrong, you've still spent $100.

It starts to make more sense if you think that you're gonna damage your phone twice over 2 years, but generally people become a LOT more careful after the first time

Is this only if you ordered direct from Apple or also buying thru ATT? I thought if something happened and you needed a new phone you had to pay full price.

That is wrong dabigone......

Called Apple and gave me over to AppleCare +. Was told after I had activated the phone that I got from Verizon, I could purchase AppleCare + via phone sales site. Called just today, as well as another member on this forum. Verified ;)

Call AppleCare + yourself. Just make sure you actually talk to someone from AppleCare + and not someone else.

Other short thread on this....

If you're getting technical you should add in the second drop incident as well. So it would be $200 with AppleCare+ VS $400 without it.

Now let's break down my situation...

Currently I own 12 iPhone cases. Ranging in all different amounts of protection levels from extreme to bare minimum. Average price is around $25. Some were a lot more, others were a lot cheaper. So the cost of those cases is $300.

Now, let's say I purchase AppleCare+ and break two iPhone's (I'm going caseless this time around) It will cost me a total of $200. That's a $100 savings. Now let's say I don't break my phone at all... I save $200.

Sounds like $99 well spent to me...

Definitely worth it especially if you are someone who resells your old iPhone when a new one comes out. I brought my 4s into Apple and got a replacement no questions asked. Then I put that replacement one up on eBay in brand new condition, being the replacement they give you still has the plastic on it. I sold it in literelly 2 minutes for $450. Paid for most of my iPhone 5 being I didnt have an upgrade.

ATT will charge full price. But anyone who has an iPhone can make a genius bar appointment, and worst case scenario, Apple will offer you a refurb for $200, regardless of where you bought it

Yes if you break the phone twice then it becomes more worth it but I can't imagine that a reasonably competent person would do that. I have owned every iPhone since the first and have NEVER broken my phone in any way and have never used a case.

In the situation of an incredibly clumsy person who for some reason spends $300 on cases then yes it would be worth it... For most people it isn't.

So you paid $100 for Applecare+ and $50 for the replacement... So after eBay fees and PayPal fees you made less than $300. I made $280 with no fees selling my used phone on Gazelle.

I just don't see the value. ($20 is $20 but it was so close that you could have lost money). Its a $100 bet against yourself that is only worth it if you break two phones. If you break one you save $50, if you break two you save $200... So only being a clumsy butterfingers will you get your money's worth.

It says on their site" Available in store only"
