I mean we forget the targetted audience here, students and kids. this will sell like no tomorrow.
Pretty much, its like tech enthusiasts want everything to be made to please them, not for people who will actually use this.

These will sell to the masses. They know what their customers want, they base their design decisions on surveys and customer feedback. This is what the masses want. I for one am not going to get one but I will get this for my inlaws and I know they will absolutely love it.

I know people dislike being pushed into paying more for color, but believe me when I say that it's better than not getting colors at all just because the device you're buying is too "pro" for it. The iPhones and iPads come to mind. I'm tired of all grey, dammit! I want a little vibrancy in my tech!

No HDR?
Given how the HDR in macOS doesn't seem to work with any display, I was hoping in that.
Anyway I'm currently on a mac mini M1 16Gb, therefore being this the same chip I'll probably wait for more powerful processors, both in larger iMacs and macbook pros.Unlike others here, I actually like the design though.

Bezels, Jimmy Hill chin, external power brick.

It's not 1999 any more.

Same 2 display limitation of other M1 machines, no mention of Thunderbolt support for external graphics, so assuming no.

I must confess that I'm somewhat underwhelmed...
A tad pricy for a spray paint job and a shiny new hinge.
More poignantly, the entry point specs do not warrant that price tag.

The saving grace might be the speakers, but let's reserve judgement until they've been tested.

Sorry Apple... I'm staying with my 2020 27" iMac for now. I need a little more to make me upgrade.

So looking at the SKUs on the apple website - it seems like you pay $200 more to get one more gpu (don't care), touch ID on the keyboard (don't care), two USB 3 ports (do I need those over the two USB 4/Thunderbolt?), and ethernet (which is a must have!).

Question - this will work with the ethernet dongle, most likely, right? So unless I am in love with a color that you can't get on the cheapest SKU, I should just spend $30 on that...

With all our screaming at Apple to reduce the bezels, we forgot to tell them to keep them black. Here’s hoping the bigger iMac will come in space grey with black bezels. Otherwise I’ll wait for the updated 16” MBP.

How can any long time Apple user not list the colors in the correct order? Green, Yellow, Orange, Pink(né Red), Purple, Blue.....c'mon
