I thought that was also an additional 400 bucks and only the "standard stand" is at no additional charge
No, the VESA mount is available for the base price. The $400 is for the stand that offers height adjustment.

It makes sense to me. Apple's excuse for not including chargers with the iPhone was because everyone has one already. Doesn't every household have a spare rag? :)

It's a crap cloth anyways. Worst 20 dollars I would have spent had I kept it. Thank god for return policies.

After the Apple cloth smudged my screens and left lint all over them I searched for something else and I found the perfect cloth. These are the best cloths I have ever used. My iPhone 13 Pro looked like it was brand new out of the box after I cleaned it with this cloth. It even cleaned all the smudges in between the cameras, and that is a hard spot to clean with any cloth. Plus, these are what Apple has used in their stores for years. I can see why.

Same experience with the Apple cloth. I admit to being a sucker curious user about what a 19$ cloth could possibly do differently or better than any ol' 50cent cloth I find in the cleaning supply section just about anywhere else. That cloth is amazingly terrible at the one thing it's intended to do. It left an absurd amount of tiny micro lint all over the place.

Thanks for the tip about the Whoosh cloths. I'll have to check those out.

Bt I am amazed at how many fingerprints end up on it. *sigh* And I'm apparently not even conscious of doing it! OR, someone is touching my screens when I'm not in the office. Even my MBP screen seems to get fingerprints on it too often. *sigh*
Touching screens to interact with them has become a normal behavior. Also, we are constantly switching between devices or even using them at the same time. (Like many others, I have my iPhone & iPad propped up on my desk next to my MBP & a Monitor and I'm going back and forth on each.) No wonder we find our greasy Cheetos prints everywhere!

Good thing I have quite a few lint free screen clothes so I don't need Apple's.

There is a lot to like about this display, but it should have included a polishing cloth (a small thing, but seriously, Apple?), the height-adjustable stand should have been standard (the reaction today probably would be completely different if it did), and the stand should be removable for VESA mounting.

I still tend to buy Apple gear, but it has gotten to the point that I feel dirty about it every time.

Try placing your screen out of arms reach. My 27" screen is approximately 33" from my face and my arms can't reach the screen. I don't have any fingerprints on the screen.

LOL, 1) someone actually cared enough to write an article, 2) complainers jumped on the train. Wonders never cease
Oh I’m sure most of us are very grateful for the article I was written in the time and resource that it took to go into it at least for me I’m very grateful.

It’s the support changes just for three different minitors for different three different use cases, that’s the complaint!

I do not understand the thinking… It’s so middle of the road, if you’re going to spend this kind of money… wouldn’t one go better?

And if you’re in the market for a monitor, your either dropping $$$ for the most colour accurate, or you’re looking for something value for money, with more flexibility.

How will they price the 27” iMac? That’ll be hilarious next to this monitor…. $200 more and you can upgrade this to a computer

Yes, I don’t want to make a mountain out of a molehill I just wish Apple would look at the optics of these types of decisions. Make the most useful version the standard version. They don’t even need to change the price, just offer the ‘better’ option stand from the 3 ‘good-better-best’ options.

Had no such experience. Not worth $20. But cleans well, no lint at all.

Nothing says "we're committed to the environment" like making people order Apple's silly cloth (or a third party option) after a pretty hefty monitor purchase, thus creating another truck delivery.

The fact that I even think a $20 piece of rag should be included with a $1600 monitor that needs a $400 option to gain height adjustment and the entire thing needs to be replaced with a new one if you ever decide to remount it in a different setting, just goes to show that Apple are becoming a parody of themselves. Don't know whether to laugh or cry at this point.

This.

It's becoming so sad. I think it began with the removal of EarPods in the box, then the 3,5mm jack, then the charger (all in the name of environment lol). Then they started charging you €20 extra if you want a 96W charger with your MacBook Pro. And now this and many other anti-consumer moves around repairs. Apple's greed is truly becoming disgusting, especially in the state the whole world has been for the past two+ years.
