They know you consumers will buy anything they put in front of your faces. I'd gouge you for it too.
No, the VESA mount is available for the base price. The $400 is for the stand that offers height adjustment.I thought that was also an additional 400 bucks and only the "standard stand" is at no additional charge
It's a crap cloth anyways. Worst 20 dollars I would have spent had I kept it. Thank god for return policies.
After the Apple cloth smudged my screens and left lint all over them I searched for something else and I found the perfect cloth. These are the best cloths I have ever used. My iPhone 13 Pro looked like it was brand new out of the box after I cleaned it with this cloth. It even cleaned all the smudges in between the cameras, and that is a hard spot to clean with any cloth. Plus, these are what Apple has used in their stores for years. I can see why.

Touching screens to interact with them has become a normal behavior. Also, we are constantly switching between devices or even using them at the same time. (Like many others, I have my iPhone & iPad propped up on my desk next to my MBP & a Monitor and I'm going back and forth on each.) No wonder we find our greasy Cheetos prints everywhere!Bt I am amazed at how many fingerprints end up on it. *sigh* And I'm apparently not even conscious of doing it! OR, someone is touching my screens when I'm not in the office. Even my MBP screen seems to get fingerprints on it too often. *sigh*
Try placing your screen out of arms reach. My 27" screen is approximately 33" from my face and my arms can't reach the screen. I don't have any fingerprints on the screen.Bt I am amazed at how many fingerprints end up on it. *sigh* And I'm apparently not even conscious of doing it! Lol, and Eddie Murphy quote regarding cost from Beverly Hills Cop 1 comes to mind “I could get ****n for $xxxx” lolFor that kinda of money it should.
Oh I’m sure most of us are very grateful for the article I was written in the time and resource that it took to go into it at least for me I’m very grateful.LOL, 1) someone actually cared enough to write an article, 2) complainers jumped on the train. Wonders never cease
But what if you keep accidentally licking the screen?Apple displays are not touch sensitive. The monitor will not need regular cleaning.
Yes, I don’t want to make a mountain out of a molehill I just wish Apple would look at the optics of these types of decisions. Make the most useful version the standard version. They don’t even need to change the price, just offer the ‘better’ option stand from the 3 ‘good-better-best’ options. There is a lot to like about this display, but it should have included a polishing cloth (a small thing, but seriously, Apple?), the height-adjustable stand should have been standard (the reaction today probably would be completely different if it did), and the stand should be removable for VESA mounting.
I still tend to buy Apple gear, but it has gotten to the point that I feel dirty about it every time.
Shareholders too.
Had no such experience. Not worth $20. But cleans well, no lint at all. It's a crap cloth anyways. Worst 20 dollars I would have spent had I kept it. Thank god for return policies.

Start saving for Apple VR/AR gogglesBut what if you keep accidentally licking the screen?
Phones these days (including the iPhone) don't include the charging cable anymore. I'm just surprised Apple didn't cite reasons of "for the environment"Is anyone really surprised?
Squeegee is so much faster than chasing spots.Unless you got the "nano-texture" glass, you don't need the cleaning cloth. Just use a cheap microfiber towel or a paper towel or something.

The fact that I even think a $20 piece of rag should be included with a $1600 monitor that needs a $400 option to gain height adjustment and the entire thing needs to be replaced with a new one if you ever decide to remount it in a different setting, just goes to show that Apple are becoming a parody of themselves. Don't know whether to laugh or cry at this point.
I'm surprised he missed the opportunity to offer an exhorbitant cost option for a set of wheels on the monitor stand base so you can spin it around freely all day admiring its looks.
