$100 off the mac air plus free ship and no tax is better than the student discount even if you sell the gift card.

I would comment on the prices but last year I was bashed (By someone who got banned a few months later) for being a contractor working at the DOD and noting that the year long Military/Government Purchase Program discount was better than the Black Friday discount.

I'll probably check it out, I want to get a keyboard cover for my MacBook.

This year it appears that the iMac .gov/.mil discount is not as good as the BF discount.

The screen shot from 9to5Mac looks like it's $101 off the base $999 MBA which is about 10%. I want to get my wife the 13" MBA which is $1299. Will the discount be $101 or can I expect 10% off the $1,299?

If it is discounted at all, it would be $101. If there is no discount, my suggestion would be to go with a reseller such as MacMall through the link on Apple Insider.

Lame. With all their incredible profit margins and cash reserves, this is their incredible sale? For heavens sake, Best Try is selling the 13" 256GB MBA for 200.00 off.

Nobody said it'd be an incredible sale. It's never been. Besides apple doesn't need to discount anything to make it sell more for the holidays so why would they

11" Low end MBA at $898.

last year, i believe there was no discount for the $999 MBA.

Yeah I'm not sure why this is becoming such a big news story around the web.

Because a lot of people want to know whether to wait & visit Apple for a purchase, or act on getting a better price elsewhere. We appreciate knowing ahead of time what to expect when there is limited time to act on it.

I've waited MONTHS to know whether to wait for Black Friday to double up the discounted price with an edu discount. Only now do I find out discount stacking is not allowed, and from what I'm finding from this big news story around the web is the BF discount plus edu discount wouldn't add up to anything meaningful even if stacking were allowed.

Not everyone knows Apple's patterns, and Apple has habit of changing patterns on a dime.

Just meh

Those aren't discounts, they're teasers. Apple should just say it's a tax free day or something and save the embarrassment of putting out discounts that don't even break a sweat. I'm buying the next MPB regardless of discounts because it's going to be better than my currently awesome stable of Apple products, not because of discounts. Especially pathetic little drops like these. Discounts? We don't need no stinkin' discounts. Make real deals or just say no. We'll buy either way.

And computer will still fly off the shelves with these meager discounts.

Hopefully Amazon or somewhere tax-free matches the Airport Extreme price... I've been holding out for a deal.

Have they opened a store in Wyoming?

$101 off the Zeppelin Air - nice, considering that thing never goes on sale. I was going to wait until after christmas but may push that purchase up now.

9to5Mac reveals the prices for Apple's 2011 Black Friday sales.

Wow, these are the exact same deals that Apple emailed me yesterday.

So much for 9to5mac having a scoop.

Discount for iPhone, please. :)

The iPhone is discounted when you sign your carrier contract (the retail isn't $199 but $649).

I couldnt get the $101 off on MBP with an education discount, correct?

Correct. It's this OR an education/corporate/military discount

$100 off the mac air plus free ship and no tax is better than the student discount even if you sell the gift card.

You mean the gift card they were only giving out during back to school so you can't get it now.

yes.

the bigger point is that this is a discount for everyone. Typically if you aren't a student/teacher/military and a few other very select groups you get nada from Apple. Even though that nada is the biggest percent of their buyers. They are also largely a group that doesn't know that outside of Best Buy etc there are other places to buy Apple stuff so they don't know to go to MacMall and such

Is the MacBook air discount in addition to the student discount?

Scratch that just read the post above me

umm, best buy has had $200 off the latest 13in macbook air for a couple days now...

"modest" discounts? Please. 8%-10% is a "weak" discount. Discounts that mean anything to a USA consumer, especially on Black Friday or during the Holiday season, BEGIN at 20%...especially electronics.

I'm sure there will be flame replies stating Apple doesn't have to do discounts, blah blah blah...and you're right...nobody has to do anything in this world.
