A rumor for over a product over a year away....let the speculation begin!

Actually, its kinda justified. With the 10th anniversary model being the next one, we're in for a year of early spotted facts and very stretched out truths.

Like above I'm for the OLED display but it appears Apple are trying to price ppl out of the market for the high end phone. What happened to just having one device every other year apart from storage size ?? Apple are now focusing on revenue rather than innovate , we all laugh at Samsung but at least they bring something new to the table and are always a step ahead of the game but have a poor operating system ( which probably saves Apple) As much as I like my Apple products I just think they have got to the stage where they don't offer anything new - they keep banging on about the IOS but who actually uses some of the gimmicks they try to sell as something special ???

If Apple introduced this iPhone with OLED in September, it would actually rival the Note 7 and have more customers on board.

I'm not exactly sure if I care for the curved display. I guess time will tell.

The unfolding drama of the "anniversary" "special edition" "got-to-have-it" iPhone is quickly becoming a comedy.

So, it looks like the special edition with come with an extra special price and all other models will be the 4th iteration of the iPhone 6 - sure glad I'm picking up the new 7 in a couple of weeks and not hanging around until 2017.

Curved display is a biggest nonsense in the history of smartphones.....ridiculous.

That's not true at all, and you know it. I have a S7 Edge that I keep around for troubleshooting with it's users, and having the clock, and other info on the side is great when you have it flat on a table. Perfect at night time as a clock, when you don't want to wake up a phone and get blinded by the light. It gives the illusion of a larger screen and no bezel.

I agree, I am not entirely sold on it, but it does have it's merits.

Ugh. Not everyone who wants "premium" features also wants a giant phone.

On the other hand, I'm not sure why I would want a curved display. What are the advantages?

I think that Samsung has a ton of products but most are at the low end cheap phone level. I certainly hope Apple never gets into the race for the bottom thing. If they are able to stay competitive at the top and ignore the bottom they will be fine as that has always been their model. Having somewhat lower priced phones like the se or previously the c is fine because it is still premium. But if they fall behind and are perceived to be simply copying the competition as in this rumor then they are in trouble indeed. this is a rumor and we are at least a year out so I am not too worried about it. I am still hoping to be surprised in a couple of weeks. Let see that first before we worry about what happens next year.

Thankfully just a rumor. Even still, Like in the case of the Edge, I don't see any real use for a curved to the edge screen. It's innovation without a purpose (Just my opinion).

Like you, I have no issues with display quality now, but if OLED offers some improvement (real or perceived) I'm all for it. As for the curved edge, I also agree that this seems gimmicky, UNLESS...

Right now you can have the flash on the back of the phone blink when you have a message, etc. Not very useful if you keep your phone face up on the table. With a screen on the edge, they could make a blinking/flashing notification appear on the side no matter which way you have the phone on the table. Other than that though, I can't come up with a use for it that would be more helpful than a PITA gimmick.

I'm all for an OLED display, but what's the deal with a curved display? Just like the curved TV's, it seems awfully gimmicky to me.

While most of the "edge" features in the Samsung's can seem gimmicky, the Curved glass looks amazing, and it allows for a phone to be narrower with smaller side bezels, so even without added functionality to the sides, it is a cosmetic update that looks / feels really good

It's purely cosmetic, yet helps internet folks believing a slower than last year's iPhone device, with a stuttering UI and riddled with bloatware, has a "innovative edge" over Apple.

I am actually ok with this. If it feels like the old Nexus S with is curve, I am on board.
