Not.true my friend, my edge plus has no screen protector, it's a year old and is pristine, how? Keep a front jeans pocket spare all the time, no keys, no coins. Job done.
It depends on the person, but I've seen plenty of people post how they do the same thing, normal use, but their screen is scratched to hell.

As for the curved screen phone, I like the look until I try and hold one. I tried using a friend's S6 edge and hated the hand feel. I never feel like I have as solid a grip on the phone. I'm really curious that if these rumors are true, how  will solve that issue.

You really need to try holding the Note 7. Samsung has greatly improved the whole "curved" aspect of their phones since then. I went out to our local Verizon store over the weekend to check it out, and you would be surprised how great it feels in your hand.

More or less, those dismissing the curved screen as a "gimmick" are either in denial or just haven't used a phone with such a thing before, because I can assure you--it's a smart design decision on Samsung's part.

720p screen, 16gb Base storage? You do the math..

About as low rent as it gets in 2016 ..

Enjoy the rest of your day..

Exactly, so if we have to pay even more for additional little design tweaks, what are we paying the price premium for?

When Steve Jobs came back to Apple, he cut most of the product lines. The problem, as he said it, was there were so many variations even people at Apple had difficulty recommending the best product for their friends! If you can't clearly describe who the product is for and which customer should select which product, you're just creating a confusing mess.

One of the things I always liked about Apple was that they didn't pull this crap. When there's a new iPhone, there's just one, and it's the best iPhone Apple can make. If they think a curved screen is better, it should apply universally. If they want to add it as an option, it should differ only in that way and not as a higher "premium" tier (the same way the iPhone Plus basically just has a bigger screen and some minor tweaks made possible by the larger size).

If Apple moves to this kind of product model (basically meaning that I'll be stuck on the iPhone equivalent of a MacBook rather than a MacBook Pro), while at the same time Android makes bigger moves away from Java, the momentum may be shifting enough for me to switch.

Ugh, please don't. It's such a gimmick. What actual productive reason is there for a curved screen (on the edges like Shamesung)? I've seen it, played with it. I actually find it annoying since the images get distorted along the edges, eww. I hope Apple does NOT do a "me too" product like this.

If Apple were to do some type of curved screen, they'd need to go above and beyond, like wrap it all the way around the phone. Still, not sure what would be useful or practical about that either. And, they would also need to figure out some way to compensate for the bent images due to the curved glass.

I have always hated Samsung curved phones. Everything they have done I haven't liked. It makes using the phone feel awkward in my opinion. If Apple does have a curved glass iPhoned, I think they have something more planed then just to copy samsung. I really don't know though. I personally willl never buy an iPhone with more features if the screen is bigger. I hate the plus sized iphone, so if the iPhone that is curved is exclusive to the plus, I wouldn't buy it.

That is all my opinion. It is subjective. Im sure lots of people like the bigger iPhone more then the smalller one and Im sure people like the idea of a curved iPhone, but I for one, dont.

Apple is planning to release at least three new iPhones next year, including a high-end model with a 5.5-inch-or-larger OLED display

At some point they're going to have to offer a wheeled cart to carry these things in. At what point does a phone become too damn huge?

I'd find it more useful to have a screen on the back as well.
That would actually be really neat. Many of us place out phones face down (for various reasons) and despite the addition of facetime cameras, the front camera never equals the quality of the rear camera, so, for good "power selfies" (friend made that up) you can either use your Watch as a viewfinder (if you have one), or guess that you and others are in the shot and background.

There could be many other neat applications for 2 screens (even if the 2nd was smaller) that I am sure app developers could be highly innovative with.

Correct my if I am wrong - but don't inorganic LED displays like the ones Apple currently uses have a longer life than OLED's? (And, yes, I am still using an iPhone 4S - what of it?)

has anyone done a study to see if having curved glass edges increase the fragility of the devices? When dropped, will they crack more easily requiring more replacements? When a case is put around the device will not the cool curved glass cease being noticeable?

I'm all for an OLED display, but what's the deal with a curved display? Just like the curved TV's, it seems awfully gimmicky to me.

  • Curved TV or monitor display only makes sense when the TV is big enough and the viewer is close enough to provide the feeling of immersion. Otherwise, it's just a gimmick as you mentioned above.
  • A curved display on a phone only causes problems. I know some people using a Samsung curved phone that are not too pleased with it because they keep touching by accident something they didn't want to touch. I guess they may just need to get used to it. Not sure, I haven't tried it yet, but it doesn't call my attention. I want a clean edge to hold my phone.

I for one think Samsung has hit a home run with their new devices. Both the S7 Edge and the Note 7 are really impressive phones. The edge-to-edge screens allow for a truly immersive experience.

I'd be very happy to see Apple release something similar, as I cannot stand Android.

...HOWEVER, I absolutely hate how Apple tries to force us to the bigger-size models by offering features exclusive to those models. OIS and Dual Camera comes to mind, and next the OLED display it seems.

Wow... what a bunch of whiny little b**ches on this site these days. You really think there's much more that's ever going to happen with the phone format now? Until watches paired with cochlear implants (or retinal implants) happens, this is what phones are going to look like, other than with little tweeks around the edges. Deal with it.

Not to rain down on you mate, but before the iPhone, most people thought Palm handheld devices and Blackberry devices with permanent keyboards were all that could be innovated from phones. A multi touch glass screen as seen on the original iPhone was so unique that a lot of people couldn't believe it until they felt it in person.

Just because your needs are currently satisfied with the current phone lineups doesn't mean there isn't innovation left that could still drastically change smartphones in a few years from now. I'm no engineer, and I'm not great at imagining things, but I know of at least a few modifications/improvements that I would like to see hardware and software wise.

Want to have a 4:3 iPhone Pro with Pencil support = same screen size like Kindle Paperwhite.

With a thin bezel and without a curved display.

I'm not a fan of the idea of adding yet another model to the iPhone line. I hope Apple sticks with the three model lineup it has now—where you can at least see a clear value for each model. When Apple starts adding $100+ to a model price and the only thing to show for it is a barely-usable strip of screen glass down the side... well, that would be a sad day for users.

They don't need to curve. they just need to get rid of the bezel. Put the touchid sensor under the screen and get rid of the home button. Use up all the available real estate before going to the edge gimmick. At least in my book that would be way better.

I would have no problem if Apple keeps the 5s design, with the nice thin bezel. I don't like the way the iPhone looks starting with the 6. There's no need to make the phone thinner, then it becomes difficult to hold it in your hand. Many people end up buying a case to have a better grip on their phones.

Interesting. Thanks for the feedback, I have not tried the new Note. I may have to make a point to try one soon. Thanks!
