I hope not
Yeah, seriously. While it may look cool in marketing ads, the S7 Edge in particular is a functionality disaster. Just try holding that phone for a mere 3 minute stretch. I'd take the normal S7 everyday of the week before that weird edge thing!

Honestly, I'd keep that 1080p aspect ratio and resolution, so I would make the screen taller and would be closer to 5.10 inch.
It'll be hard for us developers to keep up with such a screen fragmentation, and I don't see how a denser screen is better either. This is Samsung marketing bullsh*t. With a 401 ppi screen at 12 inch of your face, don't tell me you can distinguish a pixel please.............

And it's funny how so many people acts like they know tech, but they think Samsung released the whole weird edges devices first. Stop thinking Samsung and Apple releases everything first, and start giving credit wherever it's due.

Meh, this is a useless gimmick that would only drive up unit costs. Rather see Apple add more storage and RAM.

I was ready to give Tim Cook the benefit of the doubt when Apple FINALLY released a larger screen iPhone as I know Steve Jobs is reason why the iPhone screen always stayed smaller. I left my Galaxy Note 3 for the iPhone 6+ However now it seems like Apple is just becoming really complacent! A 3 year refresh cycle for the iPhone tells me that Tim Cook, Jony Ive, & Co think their product is good enough they don't need to innovate anymore. Their product might be the most reliable out there but it's starting to grow stale very quickly!

I have played with a Galaxy S6 Edge, its actually nice and not too debilitating as it appears. Yes, the curve is a gimmick. I just don't see it as a must have feature.

That couldn't possibly disappoint me more...if it were true, but it's not. The original rumors are going to be correct. All glass, with an iPhone 4/4s look. The size may not have been perfect, but in my opinion, the design was by far the best. Can anyone imagine, Apple using someone else's design for the 10th anniversary iPhone? That would be an utter failure of leadership.

I hate the Edge. It makes the phone hard to hold and provides no tangible functionality increase. I'll still hold to this even if Apple does this, but I really hope they don't.

When I think of a new iPhone, you know what gets me excited? More storage, bigger battery, MORE RAM (seriously I work in game development and the RAM on the iPhone was constantly an issue when doing mobile projects)! Hell even a better camera is nice.

Not once have I ever thought "Self, you know what would make this phone amazing? If the glass curved around the edge. What would we do with it? Not sure, but look at those curves!!!". I can't recall ever having a conversation with anyone aside from my wife regarding the look and feel of the phone (and that was really a conversation about how little I liked the new form factor compared to her old 5s).

Want to make the next iPhone a must have for me? Give me a phone that improves the internal specs, is shatter-proof (ah but then what would apple do about all that lost $$$), and is water-proof (yes I can buy a case...but wouldn't it be nice to not have to carry a box in my pocket?).

My interest is fading fast, and all these rumors tell me is the next iPhone is going to be total garbage BUT WAIT for the one after, it might have some gimmicks.

I agree though sadly I won't be surprised if it happens. If I could get the 4s/5s style (minus the fragile nature of the glass) in a 6+ form factor I'd be pretty happy. I'm pretty sure though we'll get Apple's idea of the new 'hotness' which will be them regurgitating whatever is popular in the Android camp around that time.

More important is edge to edge.
Sharp introduced first edge phones long before Samsung (who as always just copied).

You khow that next iPhone will have even more amazing ARM CPU, GPU (best in class), most robust iOS, better dual camera? So why your interest fades? I would like to try dual cameras, for example, and Apple software for this.

I've never encountered a scenario where I was ever limited by the CPU or GPU on my phone. I don't do tons of heavy processing on the phone (I use my computer for that) aside from pictures, videos and some games (less and less). Web browsing, email, phone calls, etc. don't really task CPU/GPU so upgrades are relatively meaningless to me (I'm not saying upgrades here are worthless but I don't buy my phone for the CPU/GPU).

Dual cameras? Sure... I guess. This tech didn't take off for HTC back in the day (HTC EVO3D!) but maybe this time Apple is on to something. However, the pictures my iphone takes now are already quite good. When I need REALLY good pictures and better control (lenses, zoom, etc.) we use the DSLR. To me this is a gimmick akin to 3d or force touch. Hopefully I'm wrong and it's a total game changer that completely replaces a full-sized camera, but if anyone is interested in fielding a bet on this one I'd take it.

iOS improvement? Maybe I'll finally be able to delete all of these stupid Apple apps (why do I have an Apple Watch app!?) and not have to suffer through rows and rows of app icons. Fingers crossed.

Like drawing pictures on a watch face and sending real time heartbeats?
Or Siri.

They're not edge panels, they're just minimal bezels.

The next generation iPhone may can fly.
The next generation iPhone may make your breakfast.
May, May, May.
It's getting disgusting.
To me all these "may" statements are equal to "The next iPhone may have Android" and people will start talking about that.

Why don't they take it further and have the screen wrap around the whole phone :)
