BTW, you can't tether the iPhone to another mobile device to defeat the wifi restriction (however, some might point out that you could perhaps use tethering to download the package to a Mac - maybe a PC, not sure - and use iTunes to update the device, though I've never tried it). If you could, my point wouldn't be at all valid, but you can't.

Yes you can. I’ve tethered my T-Mobile personal phone to my work issued Verizon phone to do iOS updates many times.

That's never worked for any device I've tried, even since Apple raised the limit on cellular download file sizes.

And for what it's worth to anyone interested, I just verified with Apple support that this is impossible. Not saying mrow is lying, just telling you what Apple support told me.

Yes this works on all T-Mobile MVNO networks!
Cool. Now we just need phones that have those antennas. And I looked on the T-Mobile coverage map in my area between 600mhz and regular coverage and there was no difference at all on the map.

Although T-Mobile is wildly boasting limited 5G availability by early 2019, it will probably take at least a couple of years for (1) 5G is deployed in wider locations, (2) T-Mobile and Sprint completes the merger and figure out how to merge their spectrums, and (3) chipset and antennas become small, reliable, and energy efficient.

So in many ways, 2018 iPhones are THE iPhones to get for T-Mobile.

It's too bad they are being so stingy with promos. $300 toward trading in iPhone 6 or later, which is great for those with 6 and 6S, but hardly generous for 7 and later.

I was only able to get 200 for an iPhone 7+ through gazelle. 300 is a pretty good deal.
