Apple's 2020 iPhone lineup won't launch until late October, according to a new report from Japanese site Mac Otakara that cites sources in the Chinese supply chain.

Apple has historically held all of its modern iPhone unveilings during the first few weeks of September, with iPhones launching soon after for the most part, but this year, the release could be pushed back due to production delays caused by the ongoing public health crisis.

There have been multiple rumors suggesting delays thus far, so it seems that some or all of the 2020 iPhones will be coming later than September. Apple may still unveil all of its iPhones in September, but launch the devices later than expected.

There is precedent for a delayed launch after announcement as Apple's iPhone XR in 2018 was announced in September and then launched in late October.

According to Mac Otakara, Apple's LTE iPhone 12 models will be released in October, while 5G models will follow in November.

Mac Otakara has something of a mixed track record when it comes to rumors as if often sources Apple's supply chain which is not always accurate, but we have now heard several rumors about delayed launch dates, so we can expect at least some if not all of Apple's 2020 iPhones to come later in the year than normal.

We're expecting four iPhone variants in 2020, including lower-cost 5.4 and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 models and higher-end 6.1 and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro models. Everything we know about what to expect from the 2020 iPhone lineup can be found in our iPhone 12 roundup.

Ah but one piece of info which could just prove Mac oktara wrong is that they said iPhone 12 with LTE modems will ship first before the 5G ones

um but all iPhone 12 models are to be shipped with some sort of 5G. Where are they getting that some will come with LTE from considering no one else has made that claim

Ughhhhh.

Figures that the year I finally replace my almost four-year old device is the year where I gotta wait it out. My battery is trashed and I was hoping I could make it to September without dropping $50 into a device I'll be ditching in a few months, but making it to the end of October is gonna sting just that much more.

He probably means sub-6 models in October. And the mmWave models in November.

Everybody is hoping for September, but deep down I think most people know it's going to be October/November.

My iPhone XR is running just as fast as it was on “purchase day” and enough iCloud storage and a decent HDD.

I don’t see myself upgrading for a while. The ONLY way Apple is going to get me to buy an iPhone this year is if Microsoft Studios launches their X-Cloud service on iOS and not just Android. Then I’ll want the biggest screen with the fastest processor.

I FINALLY got an Apple Watch this Fathers Day so I’m still going to be utilizing/playing with this for a while.

Apple is still going to get money from me. I plan on buying two pink iPod touches for my daughters this Christmas.

I wouldn’t mind an iPhone 12 Pro Max without 5G in exchange for a slightly lower price tbh. By the time 5G will be rolled out nationwide, the iPhone 14 will probably be released here 😅 also the damn data caps are making it pretty useless anyway. What am I gonna do with 10 GB per month over LTE? Just blow through it even faster

It doesn’t change the status of anything if these models launch October through November. Apple will still hold their virtual Keynote in September with a launch around pre-holiday season, that’s all that really matters leading late into the 4th Qt. .

Yeah I heard not all iPhone 12 models won’t be released at the same time but they better have made a mistake in saying “iPhone 12 LTE Models” instead of sub 6Ghz
