Can someone explain the sizes to me? I recall there being rumours of a 12, 12 Max, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max. Is there a size overlap with two of them, or is the current concensus that the 12 Max isn't happenign anymore?

the rumor is that there will be an overlap at the 6.1" size. So:
iPhone 12, 5.4"
iPhone 12 Max, 6.1"
iPhone 12 Pro, 6.1"
iPhone 12 Pro Max, 6.7"

I hope that isn't the exact naming (confusing to have "max" attached to the 6.1" in one line of phones but not the other), but that's the idea.

LTE Models???
I thought there will be one type of models with LTE and 5G.

so there will be non-5G iphone 12 models???

Ah okay, thanks. I've been seeing the three rumored sizes but four models mentioned for a while but couldn't seem to find anything that explained the sizes. I agree that the 12 Max and 12 Pro at the same size might be confusing, but I guess the price is going to seperate the market before people even get to comparing them.

they should the little one “iphone mini”

He probably means sub-6 models in October. And the mmWave models in November.

Everybody is hoping for September, but deep down I think most people know it's going to be October/November.

Mac Otakara has been consistent and clear with this claim, ( Not saying they are right or wrong ) but 2 iPhone , one with 4G only and other with 5G. In both iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.

Although Mac Otakara doesn't have a very good track record so personally I think it is like you said divided between mmWave Support only.

I saw the two comments. Did you expect zero?
Its the internet...of course not. We can’t say how many you saw. Given that this is a rumor site there has been at least several delay articles recently. The table flipping vibe is strong.

I have the new SE and I will definitely not be able to resist that 5.4". Need to hold it in my hand first, but I guarantee that I will have it. I still get sad when I see my old SE lying around. Anything to get back towards that size device.
I thought I would feel nostalgically too...but I now feel cramped on my partner's 2016 SE. Funny how quickly it became my new norm, I would not have expected it to happen so fast. Relieved, though.

See below, and they will continue to roll in. Trust me, this isn't the first thread there's been about a potentially delayed release date.

To be fair, I'm not one of those "Buy a new phone every year" folks, and my (March 2017) iPhone SE currently lasts about 45 minutes on a full charge, so I'm definitely itching to replace it.

You want an iPhone 12 Pro Mini?

I want the highest end hardware in the smallest physical dimensions possible.

I didn’t know that’s what “we” were trying to do 🙄 I only mentioned two in the first place because the third example was posted after my comment.

A few thousand people out of tens of millions is irrelevant, let alone a few dozen here on the MR forums 🤷‍♂️

It's interesting to think about which of the non pro models they'll actually refer to as the iPhone 12. My bet would actually be on the 6.1" model to keep it consistent with the 11 naming.
I think it makes more sense to keep it consistent with this year’s models, where the Max would be the larger model, and make the 6.1” the 12 Max. To me that makes more sense than using a new name like 12 mini for the 5.4”, but I see your point.

For months, I assumed that the 5.4” one would be referred to as iPhone 12, but today was the first time I thought they’d come up with a new name for the smaller one. Whatever the hell they name it, I’m probably down for the 5.4” one.

So, you're either going to switch to Android, which has USB-C, or wait Apple out (or go to an SE until it gets USB-C too)?

I mean, I doubt Apple is dropping Lightning now (if ever), but still...
Yes, I would get the SE (which I’d keep until maybe 2025) if I really to buy needed a new iPhone. Otherwise I’d keep my 6s another year and see what the 2021 lineup is like.

Luckily I won’t have to make that choice since iPhone will never switch to USB-C imo. Maybe USB-D 🙂

Since “we” were talking specifically about this forum I am glad you told me what is and is not relevant. I couldn’t go on not knowing.

There’s a global pandemic, and people are complaining about getting their iPhone a month later than most past years? I‘d also like to remind people that we’ve had many October iPhone launches before, so this shouldn’t be a huge surprise.

I recall one year, missing my preorder alarm and completing my request a mere 7-minutes late. I want to say I saw ship dates slip to something crazy like January. Maybe? I could be misremembering. Regardless, Oct. is nothing. And... It's just a phone. It's not a vaccine.

Wait, there are LTE-only models coming up?
I thought all the lineup would have 5G. I'm confused.

There were rumors in late May about two additional iPhone 12 models (4G, LED at a $549 and $599 price point, respectively); totally unsubstantiated, though. This would mean: six new iPhones in 2020 - I doubt it!
