More color options, great. And I think the Air should be lighter.

I'd be disappointed if they dropped the "Air" identity, or worse, changed the form factor to not be "slim and aerodynamic", and continued to call it the Air.
Jesus, who the hell cares about the stupid wedge design. The point or the air is to be thin and light, regardless of the exact shape. The original wedge was just to create the ILLUSION that it was thinner than it actually was.

Again, focus on what really matters when it comes to the Air: lightness & smallness vs. performance. Focusing on the wedge, rather than the best shape to achieve those goals is just being myopic and shallow.

This sounds like a whole lot of ?+? and guessing! The MacBook Air is currently the hottest selling computer in Apple‘s line. I don’t think they will risk changing it up too much.

Exactly. They named it the Air because it's supposed to be as light as 'air'. So the whole goal of this computer is to be light first, but also provide somewhat acceptable performance.

That's why I get so ticked when people complain the MacBook pro's are "too thick" or "too heavy". The point of a so-called 'pro' laptop is to offer the best performance possible, within reason ... with less focus on the actual weight and size.

With the MacBook Air, the thinness and lightness comes first, the performance second.

Hope this never sees the light of day. I want the MacBook Air to stay as it is. And stop changing products names all the time!
So True!
This M1 Air generation is near perfection. Super powerful for even most of all Pro tasks, fanless, light and portable, beautiful and for Apple standards not even very expensive,...
I am tempted to buy one, even when I currently do not need one...
Apple just should go the easy way for the next 5+ years instead of reinventing the wheel. Just update the internals every 1-2 years, add a Mag Safe connector, a better camera, and possibly change the screen to the mini LED technology in a couple of years (but no notch). Keep the entry model at 999 and the space grey, silver, gold, (+other colors) option.

I hate white bezels. But this machine is going to be crazy thin and light. Finally worthy of the Air name again.

Why would there be a white notch MBA when Apple has never used white for any product with a notch?

That being said, I do think Apple will probably bring the colors and white boarders of the iMac to their 13" offerings and revert back to just the 'MacBook' naming. But I just don't believe they will have the notch.
They never used to use an eyesore of knots either

I hope they make an M2 14 inch MacBook Pro to replace the 13 inch starting around $1,299. That laptop would be a real sweet spot for a lot of people, including myself.

$1299 would be 256GB though going by Apple's usual pricing strategy, with $1499 at the 256GB version.

Personally I think that will just cause confusion. Just have the M2 MacBook 14" at $1299 with mini LED. And drop the M1 MacBook Air 13" to $899.

Why are these rumors confusing the MACBOOK vs MACBOOK AIR products? Old plastic MACBOOKS were horrendous looking machines that came in Black and a white that would turn yellow after one year. NEWS FLASH: If they decide to remove the wedge shape, then it’s no longer a MACBOOK AIR…the AIR product line (emphasis on AIR) used the wedge shape to sell the fact that it is the thinnest and lightweight. NO WEDGE + cheap old cheap plastic = MACBOOK circa 2009.

Other than storage capacity, the feature I look for most in a machine is display size. I have no need power-wise for a Macbook Pro, but I would like a larger than 13.3-in monitor. 16-in would be wonderful, 15-in would be fine. But why am I bothering, these display size decisions were made a long time ago.
Same here. Apple coming out with a 12/13" and 15/16" variants would be fantastic. The 15/16" Air would be an instant buy for me. I really like the new 16" Pro but it's way overpowered for my use. Mini led would be nice, but I would be ok with the current panel in 15/16" form factor with less bezels of course.
