I thought the comment section's purpose was to share our ideas. I expressed my idea in what I deem to be a humble, non arrogant way.
Also, if I may, you shouldn't feel hurt for what I said, cuz possibilities are many, including the one where you just represent a small percentage of people in that regard.
If you are sufficiently humble you might be able to face the possibility that it is you who are representing a small percentage of people rather than expressing what people in general think

Once all the form factors have been updated, the M-series will probably update as often as the A-series.

Maybe, but I wouldn't bet any money on it.

Everything M1 was/is "A14", the M2 is "A15" but won't grow into Pro/Max/Ultra variants as it seems.
Those (most likely marketed as "M3...") might even skip A16 completely going to A17 based 3nm cores.

This is year is time to update my MacBook Pro 2014 model, but which one is more the issue. MacBook Pro 14/16 2021/2023, Mac air 2022/2023 model? Not easy.
If the 2014 pro still handles well with your current workflow then the MacBook Air will be more than enough.

This year will probably answer the age-old question of whether to go laptop+monitor or desktop+laptop. It very much depends on the Macs that Apple will bring out. Specifically, the iMacs and MacBook Airs.

Very excited for this year!

Was that any worse than the much larger black bezel areas on the 20202 27" iMac? A lot of times the less noticeable off white bezels on the 24" iMac just blended into the background with off white walls. But the trend is even less of an noticeable edge to displays.

To me the white bezels are way worse. Black bezels frame the screen better and is easier on my eyes, although yes they should be smaller. I don't want the screen to blend in with the background when I'm actually using it. Of course everyone is different. However, notice that the standalone displays have black bezels?

The simple solution was to offer a 24" iMac option in "classic" silver or space gray with black bezels (also give us a black keyboard and mouse combo). I think that will be rectified with the next version.

After apple released its M1 chip, we were all in awe. This lead us to expect a great performance improvement year after year. But I think we were wrong. Apple had (and probably will) increase M SoCs performance slowly, over time, just like we've seen between M1 and M2.
Yes, you were wrong to expect that because there was no historical data.

Glad its 2014. People who update their stuff every year or even 2/3/4 years are a drain on resources and the environment. Shame on them. So wasteful :(

An iMac with a sensible amount of storage, that would be a start
Unfortunately, I believe that the expectation inside the spaceship is for us to use TB4 drives if we want more storage than they offer …

That doesn’t help w/ the anemic amount of ram available in the current iMac, of course ..

Sigh

Then you have your desire which is an updated cheaper Mac mini that supports 32 GB RAM w/better CPU/GPU performance such as the current M1 Pro SoC supports would work for most Mac mini users.

I’d have already purchased two of them if Apple would make them/take my $$$.

Mac Mini and MacBook Air with M2 Pro makes no sense and I see with the economy Apple is going to be trimming the number of models. A Mac Mini with M2 Pro would be too much of a competitor to the Mac Studio. Macbook Air with M2 Pro too much of a competitor to the MacBook Pro and would probably have all sorts of heat problems.

A new Mac Pro like the old ones I'll believe it when I see it. A SoC chip just isn't meant for a Workstation class machine. The Mac Studio is the Mac Pro for the type of people who buy Mac's for production video and audio work.

Apple knows the economy is going to be very weak and I see them doing more upgrades that are basically just chip upgrades. The end of the year could be interesting is TSMC gets 3nm in full production. Since Apple commited to buying so many in deal with TSMC I'm sure Apple will be putting 3nm chips in everything they can.

If Apple knows how poor the economy is going, they should understand that most people will wait until Apple is willing to sell them what they actually want, and not be upsold for something outside their needs/budget?

If Apple wants my money, they’ll have to sell something I want to spend money on?

I’d have already purchased two MxPro minis, if Apple would sell them.

I’m sure that I’m not the only one.

That's not how impulse purchases of luxury products work. I know unemployed asylum seekers, who bought the iPhone 14 Pro with Dynamic Island against their loneliness.

"An iMac with a sensible amount of storage, that would be a start" AND A 27 INCH SCREEN

Nothing you said hurt my feelings at all and it's not the opinions per se. It's the way you frame those opinions and/or presume to speak for others. It's comes off as excessively self-important. Not trying to be rude -- just FYI.

But what I said is based on what I read, not just a figment of my imagination, so why not take what I have experienced and make use of it?
Again, I think this is somehow the whole point of sharing comments.

no M2 spec-bump for 24" iMac this spring (ie: when it's two years old)? if that's a sure thing I might even get the M1 one now that I'm vacillating over.
That's a no chief. Read MR forums and you'll see nobody likes this machine, and we overwhelmingly represent everyday users. If you buy one you'll be banned from this site too, it's not allowed. /s

Looking at that side-by-side the 24’s thin white (off-white) bezels look way better.
Finally! I love the white bezels myself, I miss having it for iPads too. I think it would've been nice had Apple released [yet another shade of] a grey or black color for the 24" iMac with black bezels though. I wonder how those would like side-by-side, thin black versus thin white bezels. My main gripes with the design of 24" iMac are the coloring difference on front versus rear, I prefer the more saturated tone than pastel on the front, and that it could be thicker to eliminate the chin altogether.

Based on Apple’s recent history and the forecasted economy, we’ll be lucky to see half of these announcements this year. I predict no new products, just “tock” cycle processor upgrades.

impulse purchases of luxury products

I think we're talking about two different things?

I was referring to Apple upselling users to the Studio, when all they really need/can really afford is a Mac mini with more ram?

I'm looking for two of them.

And, for me, these are not impulse purchases?

And, I think that's the reality for many Mac users who are staring at the current line-up and scratching our heads. Apple isn't making the computer that we want right now? So.. we wait.

I held out w/ a non-retina 2012 MBP that was my daily driver/primary computer until Apple finally killed off the butterfly KB... Waiting for a Mac mini with more ram that isn't replacing a primary/daily-driver computer... that will be a cake walk.

You talked about a poor economy, with regards to Apple products such a thing does not exist.

Anyone who would chose a Mac Studio for this reason alone has obviously no money problems.

So you do wait. Apple doesn't care in which year you purchase their luxury products. Right now only 4% of all Mac desktop sales are Mac minis.

Those percentages are bonkers?

I wonder how many would experience a difference between M1 and M1 Pro in a blind test. Apple couples good and large display options with stronger SoC which is really bad. A 15.5 inch Air would destroy the interest for MBP for most people.
But it might actually attract some too. Depending on the price, I might consider it. I'll never a MBP 16 as it hides behind overkill specs and pricing I will never pay even if I had more $$$

Exactly. I might glance at a MBA 15 depending on price. I'll never get a MBP 16 at that price. Maybe if they had more base specs and brought the price down, I might. All I wan't is a large screen at a reasonable price. Can get a 17" PC Laptop for a third of the price, and it still has the specs I need. Just would go 16GB+ RAM next time around.
