Apple could soon launch its annual Back to School promotion for university students in the United States and Canada, based on ads that have been popping up on social networks.

On Instagram, Apple is promoting Macs to college and university students. The ad in question depicts a Back to School image with the following text: "Buy Mac for university or college with education savings. Plus get a gift card for up to $200." The screenshot of the ad is from a Canadian user, and that price point suggests we will see the same $150 discount in the United States that Apple provided last year.

Clicking on the ad redirects to Apple's education website, but there is as of yet no mention of the back to school sale. Last year's back to school sale began on Tuesday, June 4, but Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said in his latest Power On newsletter that the 2024 sale will not begin until later in the month.

Apple's back to school sales provide students with a free Apple gift card when purchasing a Mac or an iPad. Last year, Apple offered U.S. students up to $150 when purchasing a Mac and up to $100 when purchasing an iPad.

I believe those are US dates. The Canadian dates sometimes differ (later), but sometimes they don't.

I'm in for a 2024 11" iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard. I'd been patiently waiting for OLED with my 2017 iPad Pro 10.5.

And maybe next year I'll pick up a 13.6" M4 MacBook Air with 12 GB RAM.

Last year, June 4 fell on a Sunday. Tueday was June 6.

Back-to-school 2023 promo started on Monday, June 5, 2023.

Besides today, the last time June 4 fell on a Tuesday was in 2019.

This is why I don't trust AI.

You are awesome lol, thanks for posting this.

Since the ad was from Canada, I predict that Canada and US will start the Back-To-School promotion at the same time this year, probably on June 10.

Back to school already? Students were just released for the year. Jesus. Unbelievable. Greed knows no bounds.
🤣 This is literally the first reply in this thread:

Hmmm 🤔 they always marketed it as “Buy Mac or iPad for University and get…”
iPad is noticeably missing.
Hope they won’t exclude the new iPads from this year’s promo 😡 they’re already so overpriced, I would only consider getting one if it comes with a gift card!!

This is what people who want the M4 iPad Pro should be doing. Why the hell would you pay the obscene markup at $1000 for the 11 inch when you could get it for $900 and get a $100 gift card on top of that, which can be used for the pencil or keyboard? You don't even need a university email address and Apple doesn't verify...

From what this dude said on reddit(yeah I know, its reddit but he seems pretty adamant) he said the back to school sale will start on Monday so will see what happens..am holding off to buy the 11 inch ipad pro 512gb so hopefully that is when it happens

Education pricing exists year round on the website. Not that many people take advantage or are aware of it since it’s barely mentioned on the website, except in tiny writing as a link…

As for the promotional gift card, yes, Apple should make it year round or at least use it as credit towards the keyboard/pencil. If it’s for a Mac, then possibly a carrying case or something.

Apple used to verify, but somehow they quietly stopped.

And not everyone starts in the fall. College students go to class year round.
I’m guessing they don’t want people to take advantage during Christmas sales. There is still standard education discount, at least

For what it's worth, someone asked on Reddit about it and someone replied saying they're an Apple Store employee and it's launching next week.
