I’m traumatized from HomePod mini, I would only consider buying HomePod in general if they add 3.5mm line in, otherwise I won’t take them seriously. wifi stereo never been reliable for me.

why would you want two? just curious. different sizes and I know everyone has their needs, but I have never heard of someone having two fairly new iPads just for themselves.

work and personal?

same. one Apple TV, one HomePod Mini and a pack of AirTags.

I’ll wait for the redesigned MBP and iPad Pro.

The 11-inch for the car, the 13-inch for the house, and out-of-town air travel. I checked the refurbs, and no M4 Pros are available. If there were, I would use my Veteran discount with the Refurb discount. Could buy a new M4, but I am afraid it would ship with 26.

Why d people upgrade their Apple TVs. Do they do more than just stream video?
I upgraded from the HD (A8) model to the first 4K model (with A10X) for obvious reasons. And then again to the current model (A15) because of Thread support (HomeKit).

All minor updates. If the iPad Pro gets an increase in RAM, it will be good. Would like some bright new colors for the next HomePod mini. Would like an event, however not sure on what Apple is planning to do

Hot take, but I think the new Apple TV will be a “Pro” model and come in at the same price as the current model, which will drop down to $99 to compete with cheaper streaming boxes. I am desperately hoping it comes soon, Apple TV is genuinely one of my most used products and I’ve been waiting to upgrade for over a year.

Standards change. The one I unplugged a few years ago after a TV upgrade is either a second or third generation. If it is the second, it only does 720P, and if it's the third, it only does 1080P at best. Now that I want to use an STB again, I don't want to go back to that.

Or maybe I'm just jealous of the screensavers in more recent models.

Good thing I got a Mac mini and a new monitor because that 27-32 inch iMac is never coming…
Bonus, when you decide the Mini is obsolete you won't have to get rid of a display that probably still works great. (The Apple Silicon iMacs don't have target display mode.) If that model ever does come out, though, you could use that display with it, too ;)

The MBP M5/M6 update timing is so awkward for me personally. Our company is doing a refresh this Fall for everyone with laptops. So I'm almost sure to be getting a new M5 if it releases. But ironically, if an M6 version has this rumored touchscreen, I'll be selling it next fall and updating to that as a Mac Book Pro with Apple Pencil support would be an absolute game changer for my workflow.
I can't imagine trying to use the pencil or touchscreen much on a Macbook unless it's a convertible and can lie flat. Won't the screen wiggle, or your arms get tired?

The second front camera sounded like a silly rumor to begin with and it is mentioned in the leaked unboxing that the M5 iPad Pro doesn't have one so why does MR keep repeating this already discarded rumor?

The current model (which is what I have) is overkill for what the majority of Apple TV users use their devices for. I think that’s the reason Apple didn’t put an A18 Pro or A19 into it and possibly more RAM. They know the majority won’t bother with console gaming or they really would have beefed it up. Now, it’s possible we may get a new version next year if console gaming takes off and the performance limitations of the “entry-level” A17 Pro becomes an issue. I doubt it, but you never know. It looks like adding AI was their main focus with this new release.

Many people have an older one that is showing its age performing basic tasks, some people are upgradaholics who must have the latest shiny. Some people use them to play games.

I have a feeling this will be the last VP before they discontinue the product. They will release another one because it’s already ready and not because it was successful. Or it will be just available for years to come without any significant upgrades to save face just like with the HomePods.

Gotta love how MacRumors and people now call full video introduction keynote presentations mere Press Releases. Press Releases are just a written up document for the press but those last year were daily video drops, same as Apple's usual keynotes, just split up into three days instead of all at once, with all the same fan fare.

There is a second leaked unboxing video that clearly shows an additional portrait sensor, along with the array of landscape sensors. Looking at the video the portrait sensor does not look like the 12 megapixel selfy camera, instead it looks like another infrared Face ID camera. This is likely so that the iPad can be unlocked in portrait no matter which side you hold the device.

😳 Mac Pro is still considered Neutral Mid-Product Cycle in the https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#Mac_Pro

Not that I'd need one but I would love to see a Mac Pro with five M5 Ultra SOCs four of them on PCI cards.
What would one do with such a beast?

You've been hooked on cheap thrills by new toys.

In reality, Apple sells products people want to use.

Which is why Apple is rolling in money.

Was the iPod not a toy when it launched? Back in the day, a user would have to spend hours ripping thier CDs to be able to use it - not exactly a frictionless experience. Similar for the iPad - just a bulkier iPhone for it's first generation.

The Apple of old would have launched new products that dominate markets (at least, in terms of profits). Smart glasses are in their 3rd generation (Snap Ray Bans, Meta AI Ray Bans, Meta AI Ray Bans with screen), smart rings are in their 4th generation and foldables are have been around since 2019. All are starting to gain traction - I've seen more and more people with foldable phones and Oura rings out and about in the last year, similar to how Apple Watches have become more common, so people are definitely interested in these product categories.

Apple is in danger of loosing these markets if they are not careful. I think they already suffered a set back on smart speakers - I was heavily into the Apple eco system and was waiting for an Apple smart speaker back in 2016, but then the $25 Echo Dot was cheap enough for me to try out and realise that I don't need all my tech to be Apple. It's not inconceivable that the same could happen with smart rings or smart glasses.
