The thing I am most excited about are the updated AirTags. Will make keeping track of my friends and 3 ex-wives that much easier. I’m hoping for longer battery life so I don’t have to make as many 3am trips to switch them out under each car. It’s annoying!

You're kidding. I'm rocking an Apple TV HD & it still runs fluid.
Apple TV HD is not 4K of course. I have one of those too BTW.

P.S. My Apple TV 4K 3rd gen has some sort of HDMI compatibility issue with my main system. I get symptoms of signal dropouts but swapping in brand new certified cables doesn't solve it, so I'm using my Apple TV 4K 1st gen there for now. It doesn't seem to happen on another system.

the whole refresh macbook pro line is just odd. new macbook pros with M5 chip in jan-march then OLED macbook pros in october? madness. imagine sending 4-5k on a m5 macbook pro then the new designed macbook pro comes in october 2026

After all these years and Apple TV still can't show notifications on the screen. It would be awesome to see you r text messages and other notifications on the corner of your TV. And also a REAL FaceTime.
I would make a small Apple TV with a an integrated camera that sits on top of the TV screen.
It's totally doable. Chromecast does the same as the Apple TV at a 5th its size... Just add a tv mount and a camera
I don't want notifications popping up while I'm watching a show or movie. My phone can do that. It would be fine so long as I can disable it. But ffs I'm sick of being notified constantly for ****. I also don't want a camera on it for the security aspect. I don't want a camera in my living room.

I’m traumatized from HomePod mini, I would only consider buying HomePod in general if they add 3.5mm line in, otherwise I won’t take them seriously. wifi stereo never been reliable for me.
I'd love a full sized home pod, but without an Aux in that I can use when Apple yoinks support down the road. Nope.

Disappointing that the ATV will have an A17 chip rather than an A18. The A18 is over 12 months old, the ATV should be getting that.

Why d people upgrade their Apple TVs. Do they do more than just stream video?

I think it’s good that they are refreshing the internals from time to time so that they can add new features, but I don’t expect a lot of people will upgrade from the previous one - it’s more for new buyers.

With that said, Apple TV is excellent and with TV OSes getting slower and more bloated each generation, I recommend ATV to every TV enthusiast.

I hope this is a joke hahaha
Why? I am too waiting for new HomePod minis. The old junk can't do anything besides set alarms and be a target for air playing music from my iPhone using YouTube Music. And I will update the old Apple TV as well. And I am in the market for a new iPad as well since my good old iPad mini 3 is 11 years old now. I also got a new iPhone 16e this summer. It's a great year for me to upgrade a lot of products.

They play games, too; and some games may want faster CPU/GPUs.

I upgraded mine from the HD model (2015) recently, to the 3rd gen 4K. The old one worked "ok", but the new one is much snappier; has more storage; and a better remote.

I think there will also be an updated HomePod. I've been looking to buy a pair, but suspiciously several 3rd party retailers are out of stock, with new stock coming October 28.

Edit: this has happened before with said retailers, when new models are coming soon.

No need to have Tight Ends, Wide Receivers, a Quarterback, or even an Offensive coaching staff anymore.

Every play Apple runs now is just a direct snap to the RB and run straight up the middle.

Dear everyone who blew $3500 on a Vision Pro, your still-in-beta device is already obsolete!
This comment is absolutely rude, unnecessary, and simply mean spirited.

What really saddens me is not that someone said it (that's becoming the norm in our society), but that this forum has sunk so low, that it allows, and in fact encourages it by not dealing with the meanness and hate that has become the norm on this forum.

Awhile back, I was chastised for mentioning that an obnoxious poster was going to be added to my ignore list. I was lectured to that the forum is here for intelligent and meaningful discussion and personal attacks are not tolerated.

And yet, look at almost every thread that is generated from the front page articles and you'll find that, in general, the threads are littered with snide and mean spirited remarks. Is this the intelligent discussion the mods were lecturing me about?

This has nothing to do with "not being able take a 'joke'" or being too sensitive. It has to do with what has happened to our society when this kind of behavior is tolerated and encouraged by not being called out for what it is.

I can guarantee that I will be the one suspended for my comments and the poster I'm responding to won't be touched.

I would try to just not take it personally.

If a stranger on a web forum doesn't like a device that you love -- just don't worry about it and carry on.

The big upgrade we're waiting for is VRR/120hz support for the entire tvOS UI. the 2023 model already addressed the other big thing which was the screen not turning black everytime you changed framerate/res
