I see far fewer people asking for a thinner phone and a metric crap ton (just estimating here) asking for more battery life... Heck I see more people wanting thinner bezels than a thinner overall phone.

I also know the wife and her friends that have iPhones, while not on this forum, universally agree that battery life is an issue. So not sure about the vast majority you're talking about. (I bought the wife several of those battery cases over the years and she eventually gives them up for the same reason as I do... and its never a question of bulk.)

I have not experienced a single iPhone user that has ever said "I wish the iPhone ran out of juice sooner" or "I have so much charge left at the end of the day I wish this phone were 1mm thinner"...

...Except those who want to be difficult in an online forum ;)

Well, maybe if you made your living supporting 800+ iPhone users who don't spend their days on forums, but do spend their lives complaining to me about how big and heavy all of their tech is you'd know one or two who are perfectly fine with the battery life of their iPhone. Because I do... ;)

Where did you get that 350M fine customers from? Sales doesnt mean everyone is fine with everything about iPhone.
- There are millions of users who are not satisifed with size but buy it because just want new iPhone,
- millions of users who would prefer iPhone 5 size
- millions of users who need extra case or cover because feel like phone is too light and thin and easy to slip out out from the hand
- millions of users who cant undrstand this camera nonsense, if Apple make it just milimeter thicker to make camera not stand out it still would be quite thin and there would be space for extra battery capacity, now imagine how wonderful iPhone would that be!
- there are millions of users who need to buy extra battery case or external battery so obviously there are not fine with current battery size
- and of course there are millions of Apple fanboys who would buy new iPhone even if it would be only 1mm thick and last half hour on battery making it completely useless, but for them it is must-buy because Apple says that thin is cool...

Another thing regarding other posts. If you can last full day without charging it doesnt mean that even 1-2h improvement is not necessary, it just means that youre lucky that your usual usage time fits that battery. Imagine someone who use it slightly more and in result lacks 1-2 h to full day cycle. On the other side there are probably people who can stand even 3 days without charging, good for them, but it doesnt mean its the case for everyone and current battery is enough. Also think about all of these cool features they are so proud of like 4k videos and improved GPU performance for gaming, try make some 4k videos and play some games little longer , good luck with having full day battery then.

Last words about so called 'innovations'.Everytime there is improvememnt in speed, graphics, cameras and displays, amybe its about time to have some innovations in battery too, dont you think? Phones are already too powerful, its absurd, we already have 4k resolution on 5.5 in screen!!! Its more than on most computers in the world which use much bigger displays! Most people cant even see a difference between 1080p and 2k on that small small screen. And we cant even get one full day of battery now. Its like having Ferrari but need to tank it every half hour...

People complaining about batteries getting smaller and the phones getting too thin fail to realize that this sort of tension is necessary to drive innovation throughout the device. It's how they push themselves to make faster and yet more efficient processors, for example, rather than deciding that they can take resources away from the processor team since the battery is so big they don't need to worry about efficiency.

Everything inside an iPhone is there to strike a balance as it propels the entire device forward.

The battery in the 6s is rated to last the same the 6. So what is anyone really complaining about?

Let me ask you this simple question:

Whats the point of having a super awesome state of the art smartphone with all these great features and options and apps if after a few hours of ACTUAL use the damn thing DIES! Sure standby times are this and iTunes use are that but my iPhone 6 barely gets more than 3-3.5 hours of actual use before it starts whining about low battery. Sorry for the caps, I'm not screaming just driving home my point. I use my phone between breaks at my Loss Control job and believe me when I say my iPhone 6 dies every single day by 1:45pm-2:15pm! I would like to at least get a battery that lasts until 5-6:00pm. Especially when my sister's Galaxy phones from Samsung lasts until 8pm everyday and she's CONSTANTLY on her phone using Facebook and Youtube. So to make my point again, it simply doesn't make sense to have a state of the art brick in your pocket because you actually used the features they sold you on when they could simply put a battery in it that ALLOWS you to use those same features.

I think the solution to the complainants that the battery life is disappointing, is to upgrade only every second evolution! I will see an improvement from my 5s ...which is a bonus, as I can currently see mine last two days if I'm not busy.

Or they know you can't do squat about it so don't bother.

I have many problem children with laptops that are constantly complaining about heavy they are and how it hurts their shoulders... You're not the only one with a job you know ;)

They just want new things and will say whatever to get it. Our policy here is if you don't like what is available on the schedule we make it available (new laptop every two years), feel free to buy your own. Which was put in place after I started looking at some people-based metrics instead of hardware age/wear metrics. If someone got a new laptop that was better than the rest in that person's circle, the others would complain for very similar reasons to the initial approved request, despite the age/condition of their hardware.

Exhibit A:
One individual that I got to switch to a MacBook Air (because of all the complaining about how many times we had to restore her hard drive because of whatever garbage she clicked on and she really wanted a Mac anyway)... as soon as the new MacBook came out she immediately starting complaining about how slow, heavy, and bulky her 7-8 month old (at the time) MacBook Air is and how much faster/better/lighter the MacBook would be... Reality is not a friend of hers.

Exhibit B:
This individual routinely had the smallest, lightest, newest Windows Laptop we provide in his department. Why? Any time someone got a new laptop, he would put his laptop in his checked baggage as close to the outside as possible so it would inevitably get broken by the baggage handlers and need replaced. When I asked why, on the 4th or 5th one, would you do that... He invariably stated that it was too heavy to carry-on. His laptop was always the lightest, thinest, smallest PC-based laptop on the market, there was nothing lighter or smaller. Eventually, after that person "left", it was revealed that he made a big joke/game about it with his buddies that he was doing it on purpose so he would always have the newest laptop of the bunch.

No one complained directly about battery life on any device... Until we gave up picking laptops based on job tasks/what we heard and put out a survey as to exactly what was wanted by these people. The number one response was lighter. An extremely close second? Longer battery life/Spare battery. 8-11 hours of use was no where near enough, they wanted 12-16 hours. What accessory was complained about the most? A write in: the power supply and all its' cabling.

Only on an Apple forum would someone justify losing battery capacity by stating it's "good enough". People need their heads removed from their posteriors. Apple has it wrong reducing battery size.

But losing Battery capacity doesn't mean losing Battery life, if the technology has improved.

Yup true that but battery is not good as it is right now, I could hardly make it to home with my iPhone holding charge. When in office it's not as issue as I charge it whenever I can but when I am out on the road then it's a real issue.

I have used an Android phone with 5000 mah and they last for three days with the same usage my iPhone fails to last a day. Not comparing it per we but would love iPhone to make up where it is lagging.

Remember if you stay still, you will be left behind.

I never said it was "good enough." I said that complaining because Apple is making a thinner and lighter phone, which millions of people obviously love enough to buy, just because it doesn't get another hour of battery life is somewhat childish and wasteful, IMO. Remember that, at the same time they took this battery mass away they optimized the OS so that the net result is either slightly better battery life or no change. The problem isn't that Apple shaved millimeters off of the battery. The problem is that battery technology in general doesn't yet support the two days of charge that everyone wants with their smartphone, while it's connected to every BT and WiFi device they own, and their screen is at the brightest setting.

If the iPhone doesn't have enough battery life for someone they have the option of either not buying it or supplementing the iPhone's battery with a battery case, or some similar accessory that will provide reserve power. But droning on about it becomes tiring and boring, quite frankly.

Honestly, my biggest complaint about the iPhone's size is that they have that stupid camera bump sticking out of the back, when the phone could have been a couple of millimeters thicker, and been smooth. And increasing the thickness to accommodate the camera lens would have also achieved the ability to stuff more battery material in the case. But at then end of the day it was my choice to either buy one and deal with the ugly camera bump, or walk away. I chose to buy it, and at that point my right to endlessly complain about it was relinquished.

On another note, we have a pretty simple policy when it comes to laptops. We buy (lease, actually) one model every three years. We give our users the choice of having it, or not. While working remotely they can use the issued laptop on VPN, or use their own computer on Citrix. We buy accidental damage warranties, so if someone breaks their laptop it gets fixed and they keep carrying it. Alternatively, if the fix will not happen in time for their client related needs we replace their laptop with a spare of the same exact model, and return the repaired laptop to inventory.

If every customer stays silent about what they want, you won't get to buy things that include them. So "droning on" is an excellent way forward. Only an idiotic drone of a consumer would consider otherwise. You think Apple would have ever put 5+ inch screen in if they didn't hear customers say they wanted it? They may have done the 4.7 without needing to hear it, but they never would have done the plus without it, not with the obsession on smaller, smaller, smaller.

The camera bump is less than 1mm... deal with it. At least they didn't make it a hump that is completely obnoxious like some manufacturers. I disliked it at first but actually came around to liking it. It's a very tactile indicator that my finger is over the lens when going for photos that I can't see the screen directly.

Most days I can easily make 36 hours without charging my 5s (soon to be 6s)! With my previous iPhones, from the 3Gs forward, I've always managed 24hrs or more! So your complaint is based on your personal settings & usage, and doesn't apply to the majority of iPhone users.

Sorry, but battery life is all about moderation! Manage your use according to how long you know your battery will last, and if it doesn't last you the day, either do less with your phone during the day, or buy a power case ...problem solved.

Some of us have a more realistic idea of what is reasonable, and don't always need to be pushing for more. Jeheez! If the iPhone had a battery that lasted a week with solid use - some folk would still cry foul because the holiday for two weeks.

Why buy a super-capable phone then just use it like a feature phone?

Shut off wifi and go for a day using LTE only and get back to me about battery life. If you're already doing that, you must not have any need for a smart phone at all, or you're talking out of your arse.

Why on God's green earth would I shut of Wifi when it's free to use? I think you're trolling - bet you own an Android and are only here to shill.

In case you don't get it yet: NO NEW BATTERY CAPACITY FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER YEAR.

Now get over yourself.

Because a majority of people don't have full-time access to free wifi and actually have to use the cell network on a cell phone... like it is supposedly capable of. You must have an iPod touch or just didn't know about the capabilities...

I'm certain you're just a troll yourself, so you are getting ignored.

I honestly don't think I am a heavy user really but yeah may be I use it much more than you do. Although tbh I am meet anyone who is satisfied with iPhone battery life unless he is using 2G network with data off (connected via wifi) but I can't do that and I have to keep my 3G data always on. I have location services off and background refresh allowed to only a handful of apps (I don't have many apps) but I still don't get full day.

Can't do less with my phone as that would defeat the purpose of owning a smart phone and don't want to carry for the very same reason.

I think around 2000 mAH is what is needed and I am hopeful that we will get it in the next model. Not crying foul just sharing what I hope that we get from the next iPhone.

As I said in my post, I have dealt with the camera issue. I am "over it." I was just citing it as an example of the opportunity for someone to vote with their pocketbook.

And as far as the larger screen is concerned, it wasn't whining in these forums that got Apple to increase the size. It was Android sales taking money, or threatening to take money away from Apple's coffers. People who wanted bigger screens didn't sit on MacRumors forums and whine. They went and bought the competition's phones.

Straw man argument. It wouldn't run for days and days. It would run for a longer time measured in hours. As another poster stated further back in the forum, what difference is it to me if my phone at 25 or 35 percent when I go to bed? I'm not about to go to bed without putting it on the charger.

Once the technology gets to the point where I can get two or more days from one charge, and it only costs me a millimeter or two I will gladly accept it.

So in other words... people complained/whined with their wallets and Apple caved.

I don't know what forum you were reading... I've read a lot of comments about having a bigger screen on here. Still don't recall people saying "Hey I wish the battery was smaller" or "If they would only make the battery smaller, they could make the phone thinner, and that would be awesome"

BTW, I'm putting you on ignore. You're just a troll trying to be difficult. Smaller batteries and the same/less runtime is a stupid idea and it's not innovation. I wish you the best of luck in the future with that attitude. You'll need it...

Not trolling. Just observing facts. If it bothers you, which it obviously does since you can't seem to let it go and move on I feel bad for you. Have a nice life.
