Crowd Is Surprisingly Small Now - Still No Queue At 8AM. Wow.

Crowd Is Surprisingly Small Now - Still No Queue At 8AM. Wow. I can't believe the queue didn't last all night given the hourly MacBook giveaway. Where did everybody go? I would have stayed there the entire 24 hours for sure.  I am shocked the line did not remain long throughout the entire 24-hour period.

Will someone there please report on what it's like at 11AM? The timelapse recordings are 3 hours old on Apple's site.

CNBC Interview - Enterprise Question Avoided

Anyone see Steve Jobs' interview on CNBC? When the lady asked him if she would ever see a Mac on her desk instead of a Dell he totally came up with some response that did not fit the question at all.

Why won't Apple go into that market? Why do they refuse to tackle the high end server market - and use some of, what Steve Jobs called, interesting products from AMD?

I wish I could have reached through the camera and asked him myself... WHY THE ---- I CAN'T GET A MACBOOK WITH A BUILD TO ORDER OPTION FOR A GOOD VIDEO CARD!!!!!?????? WTF!!!! And don't tell me to get a MacBook Pro!

You haven't learned that those interviews are completely worthless? It's 10x worse when they interview Jobs, because he's not going to reveal a single thing about the company's future products in a business interview.

Oh, and get a Macbook Pro.

This guy makes millions each year and but yet it doesn't seem he owns a shaver? He looks like he belongs on the cast of LOST or that he is midway through a season of Survivor. :)

OK so what are you wearing? I see the kid but have no idea which one you are among the many standing next to him.

I'm wearing a black North Face jacket and I am rotating like 30 times in the clip. :p

Ok folks! I have posted 94 photos from the opening last night on a photobucket page. Sorry it took me a while, I crashed when I got home last night. It was a long day with a lot of waiting, standing, and walking in soaked socks and sneakers. Thank you rain! So here's the link:

What "market" are you referring to? The high-end server market? Those don't sit on desks instead of Dells; they sit in server racks. And Apple does produce Xserves. As for AMD, it has been suggested they don't have the production capacities that Apple would need. As for a MacBook with a BTO separate GPU ("good" is only a matter of perspective), do you know that the cheapest Dell Core Duo notebook with such a thing is $1148 and isn't even 2GHz or match many of the other specs of the MacBook. If you think Apple should offer a plethora of BTO options, search for some posts from matticus008. He explains why that wouldn't be a good idea for Apple right now.

I wonder if I saw you. I remember the woman with the baby and the carriage, they were on the other side of the dividers from me. :)

Hey, does anybody know how they power the suspended, illuminated apple? If it's enclosed in a glass cube, where do the wires go?

P.S. I'm glad to see they have an elevator besides the stairs. I was wondering how the handicapped were going to get in there.

Thanks for mentioning it. Added the link to it to your post quote above and HERE. Really a great interview I thought. :)

locks

ive noticed that even stores that are open 24/7/365 have locks on their doors

i dont know why that is, but I still wonder if the apple store Fifth Avenue has locks on it's doors

does anyone know??

I worked at a 24 hour gas station once. There were locks on the door. In the case of an emergency (power outage or something big like that), or in the case of a robbery, we would lock our doors afterward.

At the Apple store, I'm sure they would lock it if some guy came in and stole a lot of stuff and ran out. I don't know. Maybe in a really bad storm?

but my question is...does the 5th avenue store even have locks on its glass doors...becaure my guess is that a big bold would look somewhat tacky on a beautiful steve-jobs glass door

I was there just 2 weeks ago or so, my girlfriend lives uptown so it wasn't a bad walk (~40 blocks or so) and the cube is indeed really cool in person.

The store itself is very nice, open, and big. It was cool to see so many people there.

are you SERIOUS? do you really question the need for a lock on a 24/7 store in one of the biggest cities in the world? reality has yet to wake you up. nice innocent thought though.
