Steve Jobs On NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams from Inside The Store

I am posting this from a MacBook at the 5th Avenue Apple Store! :D It has officially been confirmed... this notebook is one sexy computer!

By the way, Steve Jobs was here earlier and I got pictures of him. :D Kanye West also just strolled in a few minutes ago. This place is CROWDED! I waited in line for about 2 1/2 hours if you're wondering. I got myself a free T-shirt and it was definitely worth the wait. Definitely come down here if and when you get a chance!
Please post your Pics. Here is a video of Steve talking with Brian Williams on NBC Nightly News this evening from inside the store. :)

So much for the NBC-Microsoft alliance. ;) Brian explains "next week here we will be hearing more about his latest work and creations". :)

Missed Steve.

But I saw David Pogue while waiting on the massive line...

Several hours later, I saw James Wood, Triumph the Insult Dog (or a facsimile), then Spike Lee...

And as I left, I saw John Legend sign one of the t-shirt boxes.

Macs rule. That wait on the line sucked (I got there at 4:50pm and didn't get in until 7:50pm), but it was an absolute thrill to be in a giant mass of Mac fanatics and exuberant Apple store employees.

Oh, and I still can't decide if I like matte or glossy screens better.

I was there-- had a meeting cancelled, so ended up getting in line around 2:30 and was number 80 to walk in. Absolutely drenched by a cold downpour at one point :( .. but then my teenaged daughter joined me and we had a great time.

It was quite a surprise to find Steve Jobs holding the door open when we entered! Tons of celebrities as others have noted -- my daughter was thrilled.

The store is very nicely laid out -- the diffused light from the Cube is really lovely. And the Macbooks are very tempting -- I really wanted to walk out with one.

Lots of fun!

Now it's an awesome 30 second HDV sped-up timelapse QT Movie of the queue's progress outside the store over several hours from dusk to dark. 720 x 400 and only 2.9MB. You can save it if you have QT Pro. Beautiful work. :)

I was sitting in front of the cube around 5:40 pm when my girlfriend called and said she was at a bar around the corner.
Looking at the 5000 or so people there, I went for a drink.
An hour later when we walked back by there must have been 10 to 20 thousand...
I'm a mac geek, but that was was reducules...

Realized how taken I was by all the hype... Couldn't help but laugh at myself....

No music show. Crowds of "cows" waiting in line...

Paid "Clappers" as people left the store.

I got to get a better life.............

Sorry if it has already been posted but I am curious about the logistics of the opening.

Is it correct the only entrance is the glass staircase and elevator?

And also that is the only exit?

I used to play tennis in a bubble (it was some sort of plastic filled by 2x atmosphere) and the man who built the bubble said there was a law there had to be two doors to any building or something like that when we asked why there was a second emergency door--or that could have been particular to the bubble not sure.

I wonder how Apple will bring new product in...rather ironic for a company like Apple who values secrecy to literally be operating in a glass building open always. How could you sneak new Macs in or get inventory in efficiently in general? Is there an underground tunnel leading to a more practical delivery entrance perhaps?

Last question, as it's becoming say 4, 5 AM, how much of an IQ-hit do you think the geniuses take? ;)

I took a ride in the elevator and it appears that there is one more "secret level" called "B" basement i guess as the store floor was 1 and the ground level floor #2 I think that there might be an entry from the GM's building garage or something.

To be honest, I felt like an idiot for waiting 3 hours...until I walked in. It was bliss inside.

Seeing Triumph the Insult Dog spit his cigar at someone helped, too...

I was at the store today, got a free t-shirt, and got a handshake with Steve Jobs :D

The lines were huge, once I was out, they completely looped around the GM building, and started on the other side of the street, and it went down at least a block. I'm going to go back tomorrow and try another entry card for the MacBook. By the way, who won the 7.00 drawing? (maybe it was me :D:D:D)

And, the best part, is me coming home, and looking at the movies on the apple site, and finding me :D haha

Links To Movies On Apple's Site?

That's great airkarol. But would you mind revising your post to include the links to those movies or do you not know how to do that? (not trying to be rude). I mean WHAT Movies with you on the Apple Site? I don't know of any movies on the Apple Site. Where the heck are they airkarol? :(

OK Maybe you mean the cover timelapse movies? I just found out they now let you click on an hour to watch ONE HOUR each of those 3MB 720x400 HDV movies. Very cool. All can be saved with QTPro so I am building a collection of the whole set. we're up to 2200 - 10pm here. Started at 5pm. 6 hours in the can so far. Wonder how long Apple will leave this cover up?

#1 - How is it relevant that he's "oriental"?

#2 - And please, it's Asian or Asian American.

Thank you.

You see those time-lapse photography loops on the Apple homepage and Apple Store, Fifth Avenue pages? Those are called "movies". ;)
