And here we are confusing culture and race. Maybe it was you that missed the point.

Wait a second. The person in the video is primarily Tyrese Gibson, not Dr. Dre. Dr. Dre appears in the background for part of the video only.

But he gives a "shout out" to his west coast affiliation. Could you imagine if "Apple" gets associated with a particular gang? So you wouldn't be able to own an iphone in New York? I don't follow this rapper BS and don't even know if this east coast, west coast feuding is still going on, but it was enough of a dig to cause Tyrese to yell "oh ****" and break into a dance.

It's just white people being white peopl—

But joking aside, it's really amazed at how certain people have said "I'm not racist, but I don't want that trash culture near my classy Apple products" and missing the point entirely.

I need to go get more popcorn for the long MR week end. :D

So I cant like black folks and hate hip hop at the same time? I agree the two are very intertwined, but it shouldn't be...

I can only hope that it's delayed indefinitely.

Here here! I just went to the Apple retail store last night and picked up a pair of Bowers and Wilkins P7's which are nothing short of spectacular. I also saw the Beats Studios there for $300. Ugly, plastic, cheap, junk, too much bass, muddy mids and and had very poor build quality. These are the newest models. The only thing that was good about them was the active noise canceling but I prefer passive. I get headaches from active noise canceling.
I just hate to see Apple purchasing BEATS and representing this junk.

Tim Cook probably realized he made a dumb mistake by even buying Beats. Now trying to get out of it lol.

First, if Apple can't figure out how to turn their iTunes library into a streaming model like Spotify they really have no right in the business anymore. I can't imagine a company like Apple not being able to do this. Second, Beats Audio is crap, their hardware is crap. It's all marketing BS. Some might say Apple is a lot of the same, but Apple hardware really is top notch, hence everyone trying to make phones and PC's like them. I really hope they don't pay out 1 Billion dollars for a company that only has 200k subscribers on their service when what Spotify has 10 million or so now? Apple can do better, if they can't then they have truly lost their ways.

This tweet from Ben Thompson (former Apple intern, runs the site Stratchery) sums it up for me.

@monkbent
Apple backing out because Dre celebrated doesn't bother me. Rather, Apple not knowing what they were buying does. Shades of John Browett.

If this Billboard story is accurate, Apple not knowing how to value Beats or if the executives would fit into Apple's culture is worrisome. Let's not forget Cook did tell us that John Browett was "the best by far". We all know how that worked out.

Do you think it's like going to the shops and picking up an windows phone or something then realising your massive mistake?

In all fairness, John Browett is a slimey arse and probably slithered in well in the initial meetings.

Just watched the video for the first time and to say it is not Dre's finest hour is an understatement.

I'm sorry but the guy acts like an utter douche. As an Apple user and shareholder, I'm not cool with hiring/acquiring a guy that makes a video of himself drunkenly bragging, using the n-word repeatedly and mofo'ing. It doesn't make him a bad person but it does suggest he is not likely to integrate well, in a thoughtful, creative and professional environment.

And it sickens me that anyone saying this seems to be accused of being racist. Newsflash, black people can be *******s too.

Apple should bail on this folly, and acquire Spotify and Audio Technica.

Kill the deal, Apple.
Dealing with this thug maggot is beneath you and only diminishes the brand

The video was disgraceful, I can't see Apple ever having someone like that representing the company thought a senior role.

Then u obviously donot have a clue how people in Cali party that was a pretty light weight video, which was a controlled leak by Apple and Beats.

What's a thug maggot? Got evidence?

If you think a deal wouldn't have been killed, or at least greatly altered because of that video you're deluded.

The only difference between Apple under Cook and Apple under Jobs is that Jobs would have just brought the door down and walked away, with fire in his eyes and malice in his heart.

Cook, being the "pragmatist" would try to find a way to get what he saw as value in the first place, or most of it, anyway. And that would involve changing the terms and doing his best to minimize or eliminate this punk's role.

Don't kid yourself. That video has a huge potential to nix the deal.

Jobs would have humilated BEATS and DRE for doing this.

You have no clue what being racist is.

I don't care what color your skin is, you act like a moron, thug, classless, then I don't want to associate with you. So you could be a inner city thug who is black or a high class rich white person, and if you do any of those things, I consider you the same.

That's not racist. That's called being mature and wise.

But hey, most people pull the race card out because their culture and majority of it uses it for gain because they don't want to take personal responsibility for their actions or pulling themselves out of the culture that brings racism to them.

Audio Technica are u on crack they make crap products and they have nothing to offer Apple.

It's clear you and a lot of others donot have a clue about how offensive your post are.

If you knew every personal thing that your favorite company CEO or executive you probably wouldn't buy very many products you probably wouldn't eat much food. And it doesn't make you a moron for celebrating the moron is the one calling someone Moron.

"pulling themselves out of the culture that brings racism to them" this is one of the top five worst things have ever heard of a person think or say in my life

Him and a few of his quality friends beat the crap out of a woman. i think that qualifies him.
In addition, Beats headphones suck. Picture the idiot blasting bass out of his car so loud it sets off car alarms. Now picture the same idiot blowing out his eardrums with pounding bass poor quality headphones.
Like the other poster said-buy Spotify and Audio technica. Quality and quality.

I'm a bit confused about the significance of this video, neither Apple or this deal is ever mentioned in it.

Why would have to buy audio Technica ???? This shows that you just do not have a clue about what's going on, Apple is not trying to buy Beats for headphones!!!

Unfortunately as a black man, the same generation (or in between) Tyreese and Dre; THAT VIDEO SET US BACK 200 YEARS... REAL TALK... what dumb asses!!!

Lucky for us you nor that video represents the ENTIRETY of African American culture.

So no, it didn't set "US" back 200 years.

Neither do you it seems, I mean no offense when I say that though. What you're describing is prejudice which white people have a hard time differentiating between racism. Anyone can be prejudice toward anyone else, but it takes systemic power to be racist towards another group of people.

So the OP is being prejudice, and the most white people use their priviledge to escape the necessity of learning the difference between it, racism, and the "race card" and just blurt whatever makes them feel better out of their mouths.

Please delay forever. Beats is garbage to the core.

What amazing proof you've provided!

So I cant like black folks and hate hip hop at the same time? I agree the two are very intertwined, but it shouldn't be...

You can, but at the same time hip-hop and African American culture aren't that intertwined. Sure, AA culture is responsible for much of American music throughout time, but hip-hop is seriously more of a white suburban thing.

Yes, it's roots are in AA culture, as most of American music is, but this contemporary deplorable music that everyone alludes to is a creation of high white society to draw in white suburban kids so they can have a taste of the "other" culture that these youths so frequently do.

And it sickens me that anyone saying this seems to be accused of being racist. Newsflash, black people can be *******s too.

Again, no . . . . . the oppressed people in a society, in our case Asians, Latinos, African Americans, and in some cases the many differing ethnicities from Europe, CANNOT be racist if they don't control a system of social power to keep an entire group of people oppressed.

The word you're looking for is P-R-E-J-U-D-I-C-E.

Also, Audio Technica is so far below Beats, Bose, Sennheiser, etc. that it's just sad to bring them up. Besides, if Apple is thinking of buying Beats they are doing it for the brand, not the tech. AT doesn't have anywhere near the brand recognition.

You have no clue what being racist is.

Could I submit to you that you are show signs of white privilege? That last statement has three distinct elements of "my culture is superior to anyone else's and everyone should act like me.
