So are these just Beats headphones with all the chips and tech found in AirPod Pros?

If they are actually "studio" headphones then no. Studio phones need to be accurate as they are used for things like mixing and listening to raw tracks. They are made for content creators, not content consumers.

That said, Apple really has become a consumer-facing company now so I was surprised to see them marketing a studio headphone

I’d be really surprised if these were anything but AirPods white.

Apple needs to break out of the ‘classic white’ segment. They need to offer an array of colors to consumers. There’s no reason they can’t do that, it’s Apple just being Apple. I’m definitely interested in the studio headphones, but I really don’t want white, I’d prefer either black or some other slate/neutral tone.

They’d better have multipoint connection. The XM3’s don’t and it’s show stopping omission. Having to disconnect on one device before you can connect on another is a woeful experience. Aside from that the Sony’s are amazing.

So Apple marketing a Pro mobile phone didn't raise an eyebrow at all?

As has been said in every thread about these headphones so far, Apple plays fast and loose with their branding sometimes, to differentiate product levels. To take it too literally is folly. After all, despite the naming, Apple still haven't made a MacBook or iPad that can be used as SCUBA gear. ;)

my friend has the QC 35 I borrow often, it is so great on the airplane. please let this come sooner only hoping the ear cushion is soft and big enough and noise cancelation

RIP Sennheiser, Bose and Sony.

You’ve clearly never listened to a Beats Studio set.

Apple headphones aren’t in the same ballpark as a Sony WH-1000XM3.

XM4’s have multiple device support and Apple’s NC technology is like 5 years behind.

A.) How could you possibly compare unreleased Apple Headphones to the Sony WH1000XM3?

B.) I own the Sony XM3s, they are absolutely amazing, that I will give you credit for.

I am very excited about these. I bought the Sony XM3s in January. Loved them for the ANC and sound quality but the lack of quick device switching really hampers an otherwise great experience. To add to that, within the past few weeks, they have started the dreaded 'Right Cup Hiss' that is all over the message boards. With the coronavirus crisis, Sony isn't running their warranty process, so now I am stuck with some duds for the foreseeable future.

If Apple continues it's impressive audio development, can cut down BT latency even further, and provide the fast H1 chip for switching, I think I will give these a try.

AirPods Studio? Well, they're not Air, and they're not Pods, and they're probably not studio quality, like as in what actual sound engineers and recording artists would wear in studio. Maybe in a photo or video studio. So that whole naming convention is pretty funny.

That being said, there is a decent chance I'll pick these up. I really love my AirPods (which my wife now uses) and AirPods Pro and if this has even better noise cancellation then I'll be all for it since I work from home (well, everyone does now, but my condition isn't temporary and I started in January) and my wife has an in-home daycare and I soundproofed the walls but apparently it's not enough.

The AirPods Pro do a pretty decent job but have seemingly lost their ability to completely isolate sound. I ordered some of those Comply foam tips for it and will try those, but I think over the ear will probably be the best bet. I'll still use the AirPods Pro all the time when working in the yard, exercising or traveling but for long shifts working I think over the ear headphones will be the most comfortable.

Do you guys think this thing will have Apple's new AirTags capability built-in? I assume this would have a built-in mic as well? Hopefully the battery life is pretty great since it won't have a charging case. I also hope the new Xbox Series X will work with these bluetooth headphones because the ones I have now aren't very good.

Beats had phenomenal marketing. Beats by Dre. you are spot on, it was style over substance but it sold. when apple bought it, i was hoping to see a mix of style and substance. they dropped all the great marketing though. kind of a head scratcher...

they bought beats for data and tech information. Eventually it will phased once the AirPod line is fleshed out.

I would recommend anyone looking to buy the “Beats Pro”, the expensive wired headphone (truly made for studio production), do so sooner than later!

It’s in the cards that Apple will phase out Beats, and I believe it is highly likely the under-marketed and under-appreciated Beats Pro will not make the cut. They are excellent headphones too!

I highly recommend the Beats Pro if you don’t mind that they are wired and rely on old-fashioned noise cancellation (that is to say, quality ear cups that drown out outside sounds).

RIP Sennheiser, Bose and Sony.

If the price is competitive with equivalent Bose and Sony ones it could do well, but if Apple force an obnoxious white on you then I can't see a lot of people buying them who want something a bit more discrete.

I love my QC35's because they aren't "loud". So hopefully they see this and offer a black version.

I am almost certainly in for one. To date, my absolute favorite pair is the latest Beats Studio set. Love them.

I have the Beats Studio 3. I expected that with the moniker "Studio" they'd be, you know, like studio headsets. But I've found them pretty underwhelming. Pairing with my Mac is instantaneous, which is nice. The ANC is just okay. So I'm not sure what the difference in sound quality will be with the AirPods Studio.
It's not "studio" as in "sound studio", it's "studio" as in "single room, cheap studio apartment"

lol.

Have you noticed how liberally Apple has used the term "Pro" for new products?

I really don't think using "Studio" for a set of headphones means that much to them at this point.
