Do I presume these will be cross platform so Android phone users will also be able to buy Apple's tags to secure their items from getting lost?
No reason to make them Apple only is there?
You have Tile.

ok, if these need to be charged on a regular basis, this will be a very dumb product. if you stick this on your bag(for example), then lose it and realize your batter died last week... this product would be more of a piss off than a helpful tool.
I don’t believe this is a product Apple will release yet if they do I think an excited initial spike of salesfor 3mths then drop into being more forgotten or ignored than the HomePod, imho.
Honestly, how many people loose their 💩 on a routine basis? Or they can’t keep track of their 💩? I just don’t get this item, unless you’re welding this to your 5 year old. I know most people are the walking unconscious, but I so don’t understand the utility of such a product.
Never heard of an app called Reminder?
never heard of convenience?
Until there’s such a thing as a free and permanent energy, keeps dreaming. People doing things on a regular basis everyday. Paying bills, cleaning, fertilizes plants etc. We’ll survive.
How are you the first person to reply to almost every post?
If they are not a bot, then it’s somone who just comments for the ‘likes’ and to increase their post count to increase their status (I.e., macrumors newbie v macrumors demi-goddess). Most of their posts are nonsense. All we can do is report the account.Probably a bot. Look at the post times, it's often 1 minute after a story is published. I doubt anyone has time to read the story, type out a reply that isn't complete garbage, and send it in under a minute.
You can NOT set an iOS app to always allow location services. There is a setting that suggests that, but you continually get pop ups asking if you want to allow access to continue. They pop up at random and it is easy to accidentally hit no. There is no warning that what you just hit may break functionality of the app. A lot of users are not going to know where to go to reenable this, but then their app breaks.I don't think that is accurate. Apple made a change in iOS 13 which defaulted location tracking to "always off" for third party apps while it was flagged "always on" for the FindMy app. Apple didn't remove anything, you can still turn location tracking on for third party apps it is now just defaulted to off for privacy.
Yes, one can argue that its a little jab at companies like Tile, but it did not break their app or product. One could also argue that it was another privacy initiative undertaken by Apple and Tile was caught in the crossfire. I am quite happy with location services being "always off" by default for third party apps forcing me to make the decision.
If I'm wrong please let me know.
Yeah this is what I’m really curious about. These things will need battery. Don’t tell me it will be considered “disposable”. It would be ironic if Apple wanted consumers to keep rebuying these while talking about the environment.I am curious about battery life and cost. After that, I might get intrigued.
I can see the use of these products. It’s a first world problem thing, where sometimes you misplace your car keys, or wallet, etc. It’s not life or death, but it is convenient.Honestly, how many people loose their 💩 on a routine basis? No I’m not a bot or a spammer I’m real. You guys come on.I guess a bot or just a spammer
What you're really saying is: "I don't see any use for this, so no one else has any use for it".
Open your mind, accept that other people may have other needs and solutions than you. Just move on. It's that easy.
They will probably be lithium ion, but man if they are serious about e-waste they will allow the user replaceable cr2032 batteries.
edit. Never mind. As long as they're "battery serviceable" then let Apple replace for $30 in two years.
The most controversial yet impressive product Apple may release. Month of October can’t come soon enough🤥
I don’t think there’s any company out there like Apple who’s creating products like AirTags. That’s pretty impressive to me.What's "impressive" about it?
