Great photos OllyW. Were there any tee-shirts and/or other freebies to be had?
Unfortunately not and I think the days of grand store openings are over.

Just before the doors opened I overheard a conversation between a passer by and one of the store staff. She was asked if there were any special offers or freebies and replied, "we are Apple, we don't need to do that". They probably don't need the gimmicks anymore but 5 minutes after the doors opened there were still more staff inside than customers, unlike the Bullring store opening when there were over a thousand people queuing up to take a look inside and grab a free T-shirt.

Looks more cramped than I hoped for but that might be because it was full in the photos shown. Anything is better than where it was, however. Not impressed by the (rose?) gold Apple flag outside. It really needed to be space grey if not jet black.

They should of kept the little store going as well as the new one I think they get to busy

Hope it brings back Birmingham anyway!

Not been down there in months Was always hoping The Merryhill centre near us would get a Applestore maybe Apple don't like the lease prices hence no store!

C'mon Tim Cook spend your money and open a store at Merryhill! ;)

For us as well can't understand why Apple won't open a store there it's not like they can't afford the lease even if it is £1Million for a outside outlet a year

Could cost more now I knew it cost my old workplace Currys that from 2011 Lol

Blimey, it's no wonder so many shops have closed up there.

I visited the store today. Acoustically, it is a disaster. The noise levels rival those of Grand Central. Downstairs is about half the size and gloomy with much less in the way of natural light. Lots of phones abound but nothing to distinguish iP7 from iP6s. All the informative iPads have vanished. You had to lift the phone and check for a headphone socket. Apple also seems to have ditched pretty much all of the peripherals. The only phone cases I saw were its own. A few headphones and not much else. Nothing upstairs on the ground floor save the Apple hardware on the tables.

Sometimes less is less.
