I doubt this is is true, seeing as Japan had free iPods in their BtS promo just a few weeks back. It wouldn't make sense for Apple just to change the promotions while moving across the pond.

At Present..

What are they giving you idiots for free today?…Anyone..Anyone?
Stop complaining..cheapskates

First Americans whine about not getting free handouts, then they whine about Brits getting a better deal. Ugly, people.

$200 > $100 > $0

Really? When Apple released the mini mac and it was more expensive in the UK all we heard was whining. We (Brits, Americans, and Europeans) will always compare the deals we get.

Do you mind pricing me a MBP? I will be getting UK Uni discount in august.

What the hell is the point of itunes gift card anyways? Renting movies? We have netflix for that thankyou.

Buying songs, buying apps, buying applications in the Mac App Store, buying movies/tv shows (or renting), or selling it to someone else.

I hope they go with a free iPod Touch though. If this current rumor is true, I'll just wait and purchase a refurbished Mac instead of a new one and save money that way.

I've just checked Amazon website, they offer the base line Macbook Pro for $1,137 whereas Apple educational price is $1,212 (tax included). Why do people bother checking out at Apple with a higher price provided that there's no promotion? Is there any advantage in shopping at Apple over Amazon?

The touch was just a bonus for my kids. Could I buy Aperture with this? If so I would just use it on Aperture and a few Kids Apps that I was going to buy anyway.

Yes, you could.

It's nice that the card could be used in both App stores as well as iTunes, but make it double as an Apple retail store gift-card too!

A UK apple store employee just announced that they have received loads of £65 iTunes cards and that B2S definitely starts tomorrow.
BOOOOOM!

It's probably just for the B2S promotion. He did say they were custom cards.

It's not about the "gift" to everybody on here.

I'm guessing a lot of people (like me) were planning on selling that iPod Touch for around $200.

For some people (like students!), there is a HUGE difference between spending $1,099 and buying one for $899 essentialy.

Maybe it's a touch and a gift card to really battle the MS deal? Not that hard to believe. Doubt apple would be stupid enough to offer only the giftcard

Does the promotion go on-line at the same around the world ? I will be online at 12am UK time to check if the deal is online yet.. I will update you guys asap when the deal is up That is if the deal is up at midnight UK time.

Hopefully the rumor about the £65 apple gift card is not true..

Often Apple update their web site around 6.00am EST, so possibly the education store may go down around midday in the UK for updates. However, as it's not a product launch / update this "rule of thumb" may not apply. Just thought I'd warn you so you don't get disappointed if nothing happens at midnight.
