Glad to see CarPlay Ultra is coming to auto brands (Kia-Hyundai) that the average person can afford.

The real question is will they update existing models? Of course Apple waited until just after I bought a Hyundai to showcase this lol.

"Car Pay Ultra"

I wonder if Ford will let its various vehicles with this setup get the upgrade? Even the Mustang has two iPads slapped up as a dash.

From a marketing perspective I can understand they want to separate this from what was available before, but it would have been a much nicer statement if simply called "CarPlay".

Another ball dropped by Apple. I don’t foresee CarPlay around in another 8 to 10 years. With the mass adoption of android auto OS most new cars people actually drive will be running android by default and CarPlay will be relegated to run within a window like it does on my Volvo XC 40 where it doesn’t have access to the dash screen at all. Only the main.

I never liked Apple's visual designs post iOS 7, so I don't care for it (or not want to turn it on) in my car. Even basic CarPlay on the center screen, I only begrudgingly turning it on only because the built-in navigation systems are moving towards the online subscription model.

Going from a reliable brand like Toyota to a 💩 brand like Kia/Hyundai to get CarPlay would not be recommended
Toyota is generally reliable but newer Kias/Hyundais (typically post 2016) are overall reliable as well. For mass market brands, the most reliable are generally Toyota, Subaru, Honda, Kia/Hyundai, and Mazda (order of those can shift around a bit, depending on the particular vehicle). If you pull in luxury brands, Lexus, Acura, Audi, BMW are all in the mix.

Sorry Apple but this will be a massive flop.
If this is what Apple can come up for carplay ultra, no wonder their car failed.

I mean have you even studied what Tesla/Huawei/Xiaomi offers on their car OS?

Inb4 someone asks if this is will be available for their 2012 Renault Megane 3 .

Anyway. Will this be available for 2019 Renault Megane 4 !??

Looks nice. Waiting for it to be available from other manufacturers. But think it will be a very slow rollout.

Ask any mechanic about this. Every mechanic I know would never recommend one. I’ve seen many 2020 Kia/Hyundai engines burn through oil they’re a two cycle engine lol. Of course I only know about models for the USA market. Models sent to other countries might be made different. Also the newer models seem to be okay but all the ones I’ve seen were low mileage. After 150k miles then we’ll know.

I would swap Honda and Subaru and remove Kia/Hyundai.

BMW? I’ve heard so many complaints about them but I don’t have enough firsthand knowledge to make a judgement. I love them except the newer models with the ugly grill.

Man, this looks horrible.

For those who have terrible infotainment centers, this might be great. But for those of us who have better looking digital gauges, those circles and bar chart UI elements look like wireframes or best -a joke.

It lacks any and all personality. What in the actual heck is this?

Who the heck thought this was a good idea? Toggles and buttons stacked all over the UI.

MY TV REMOTE HAS BETTER LAYOUT THAN THIS SCREEN.

Audi never adds new features/software to previous model years. Their solution for you to receive new tech is to buy a new Audi.
Kind of what I expect. Oh well, all the more reason to upgrade. I just need to decide if I want a Q8, RS3, or SQ5.

Yeah this is tool old school and lackluster for a digital UI

Looks nice and would love to see it in more vehicles. But did y'all just call Volvo, "affordable"?

Yuck. Stripped of all the detail and style that make a car's gauges unique. Thanks, I hate it.

And if it matters, my daily driver is a Chevy Blazer EV, which is one of the new GM EVs which somewhat infamously eschewed CarPlay in favor of GM's own infotainment system. And you know what? I don't miss CarPlay at all.

All I want from CarPlay these days is a quick way of getting my maps and music on the screen of a rental car. For my own car, I'd rather use something that's refined, polished, and fully-integrated by the carmaker itself, not a phone company that still can't figure out a useful voice assistant.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but GM's software (well, GM's Google-powered software) is pretty great these days. Not sure if that means GM is getting better or Apple is getting worse. Might be both.
nah, if there's something car makers can't design even if their lives depended on it, it's a functional UX for the entertainment console combined with buttons. Stares extra at KIA, Hundai, GM, Tesla....

I would take Android Auto every day of the week as it's in the Polestar 3/4 cars, and hopefully finally the Carplay Update.

Let car makers do what they do best and make cars, and let Apple do what they do best in designing the user interface.
