Nobody has mentioned so far how much this is a services play.

I had this thought, too. 128 GB of storage and ‘iCloud will gladly provide you with as much space as you like for the low, low price of $9.99 per month!’ The subscription machine.Nobody has mentioned so far how much this is a services play.

It’s simpler than that. It won’t be 12-inch because that form factor was a flop. That size was only designed to compete with netbooks and that era is long gone. People want big displays and touchpads these days.
Perhaps they could make the money back selling even more expensive and powerful OLED MacBook Pros. Seems like many with an iPad Pro and MKB eagerly paid more to upgrade to OLED M4 or M5.Apple does not like to cut profits, undercutting the price of MBA would do just that.
you wrote that it will be available this year! 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Rosetta is being removed next year in macOS 27 anyway. They’ve already said this.I have a bad feeling about this, I don’t think the “A” series is going to support Rosetta, which will affect the crossover app gaming.![]()
People who buy Macbooks generally aren’t thinking about gaming on it. This would be even more true on an entry level Macbook. Same with mainstream Windows laptops also.I have a bad feeling about this, I don’t think the “A” series is going to support Rosetta, which will affect the crossover app gaming.![]()
How would you know? There are no 12-inch laptops available for purchase, so no one can really assess the demand. The old MacBook had enormous bezels, so a 13-inch display could be installed in a MacBook of this size.Thats just too damn small in the mainstream laptop market.
Not really their style though. If the OLED models are to be more expensive, they would likely keep the current non-OLED models around for a while as a rung in their pricing-ladder. This is why they sell a non-Pro-chipped MacBook "Pro" (which shouldn't exist IMO). They rather add to their pricing-ladder than focus their lineup.Perhaps they could make the money back selling even more expensive and powerful OLED MacBook Pros. Agreed. The smallest form factor with the biggest display.Given laptop bezels are constantly shrinking and all other devices keep getting bigger displays you can pretty much guarantee there won’t be a 12in. Macbook. It’s ridiculous. People have to stop thinking their niche interest somehow translates into mainstream market appeal.
Not true with a dock, but two ports would be niceAt least two USB-C ports, please! A single port means that you can't charge and use any other peripheral at the same time. It's reminiscent of the iPhone dumping the headphone jack, leading to the annoying dongles with a lightning jack and a headphone jack for charging and listening.
I suspect Apple will introduce this model so they won't have to discount the Air so much, and still retain or even grow their market share.
