Perhaps it’s time to forget the leaker Mark Gurman and Bloomberg, and seek rumours from alternative sources? ;)
This "according to Gurman" must be a joke!

A lot of respect for him to say this (unless it was shareholder-focused) not many Apple people speak up

I wonder if the whole thing was a ploy by top brass to see who the leaker is.

What if it was simply accurate and he was considering leaving while change at Apple is afoot and he negotiated that leverage into a pay/responsibility increase?

The obvious and boring thing is often close to the truth.
So there is a possibility to find out, companies like Apple have to report on compensation on some execs, if this was Srouji's tactic, I'd expect to see that reflected in a future 10k filing.
@Joe Rossignol can you please bookmark this and check against future 10k filings?

Yet this employee memo was ‘leaked’ to Gurman. 🤷‍♀️

I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Tim Apple for the pay ri… I mean, PATIENCE he has shown me.”
Honestly, even tho I’ve never been in such a privileged position, I strongly think that there’s a point in personal wealth where you actually no longer how much money you end up winning… because you can afford anything you can imagine.

I think that, once you’re in such an economical position, other areas gain more relevance, such as the transcendence of your work, fulfilling your own goals and curiosity, enjoying life and the pleasures that come with it, etc…

Maybe it’s a naive approach, but is how I feel about.

Gurman's tweet gassing himself up about how "right" he's been about executive shakeups is downright embarrassing and a bit disingenuous.
Things are playing out just as I have been forecasting for months. Apple is undergoing a major executive transformation. COO, CFO, head of AI, head of design and others gone just this year.
He had no idea/ never predited Dye would be leaving, COO / CFO were announced long ago and they're old and literally retiring. Head of AI is basically taken out to pasture for the neverending Siri debacle...then he starts a huge rumor that Srouji is leaving that is so wrong Apple gave him the memo 🤣 take the L Mark.

He can’t. He wants to be Apple chief narrative-setter in the mainstream media. His lack of humility is the price of his ambition and ego, and he often makes the cardinal sin most journalists exclusively covering a beat do: He presumes himself as important as what he’s covering.

One thing I keep going back to with all of these departure news items is Johny isn't single-handedly the only person working on Apple's silicon. He leads a huge team. If everyone walked out, that would be scary but this is just one person of a few thousand we're talking about.
Team leads are known to take coworkers with them if leaving to a new employer. And will slowly coax more and more to join them. This is normal.

Gurman: Sirouji says he’s leaving.
Gurman: Sirouji says he’s not leaving. But I already bought cheaper stock and soldier subscribers so we made money as the fire brigade from the fire we started!!

Apple apparently has a very large “corporate casket”….because there have been too many nails put in it of late….

Hope they paid him whatever he wanted. The man is worth his weight in diamonds for the way he has been running that team and knocking everything out of the park when it comes to Apple Silicon and the seamless transition.

I was not joking the other day when I said that Apple Silicon is probably the single greatest innovation at Apple over the past decade. I'm glad they aren't losing him!

Surprise surpise. Gurman was wrong yet again. At what point will MR stop carry water him?

Notice his statement doesn’t say the rumor was wrong. Nor does it say he never had plans to leave. Most regular Joes would be fooled and think Gurman was wrong.

This statement basically is the result of some serious retention strategies by Apple. In short, $$$.

Sure, it is completely out of the question that the rumor was just wrong, it came from Gurman after all, so must be true, whatever.
Watch for upcoming 10k statements from Apple re executive compensation $$$

I don’t think Gurman just makes things up out of thin air. i’m curious who his source was. Obviously it was someone he had enough confidence in to go public with the rumor.

Unless he really wants to branch out into something new, Apple is the ideal place for him in terms of silicon development. He pretty much build that entire devision, can still do so much with it, has Apple's money to do just about anything, and has gotten nothing of praise for Apple's A and M series. If he went to some place my AMD or Intel, he's have uphill battles. Nvidia is already doing things there way, so I'd imagine he wouldn't be happy there. That really leaves over ARM developers, but those are deleted for a broad range of uses, I have a feeling he really likes the focus at Apple. I could be way wrong, but that's the sense I get. Again, unless he really wants to branch out into something new.
