i guess im one of the few that dont miss the headphone jack. Im still using my iphone 6s, but after i bought the airpods. I can't ever go back to going wired again. I feel like the wires is always in my way

I’m the same, I never use the headphone jack now that I have airports and in my car I’ll either use Bluetooth or Lightning.

Guess not everyone is tired of the same 4 year old design

Exactly! I never understood the complaints of an "old design". Some people in the world worry about where their next meal is going to come from...and others complain about bezels. Think about that!

My iPhone 8 Plus is a tool. Whether it has larger or smaller bezels is of no consequence because it still does what I need it to do.

Price was an absolute non-issue for me
I used the Apple upgrade and was going to get the iPhone 8 Plus, mainly because I was concerned over Face ID
Once I used one at the store, I walked out the the X and never thought twice about the price differential, it was negligible to me
I simply bought the phone I wanted

That's not everyone's situation, obviously, and I understand some not seeing the value of the price differential

For me I can afford the iPhone X fine, I even bought one before selling it. I just can’t justify that pricetag, especially when my other half in the states can get it for £247 cheaper... their U.K. pricing is disgusting at the moment.

The price tag AND the lack of a "wow' factor are the reason. Don't get me wrong, this is a great phone (and so is the 8), but to me both failed to impress me. In fact, I was last impressed by the iPhone 6. Other than improvements in camera (which are very important to me), the 6s, 7, 8 and X we all below my expectations.

Price is definitely a major factor , particularly due to the exchange rates, a 999 USD phone, is 999 GBP , which is actually USD 1408.59 when converted properly. Yes that's including our VAT rate, which is 20 to 21% for most european countries, but it still is a lot more money to pay for the same product than in the USA itself (for the 64MB model, forget about the 256GB version, that's even more..)

At some point, I need to upgrade an iPhone 6s, but only because it's running out of storage. The iPhone X adds nothing to the user experience, in this case, so it's not even being considered. An iPhone 6s is more than enough, feature wise.

Obviously the X was too expensive for most people, and obviously the next phones need to be cheaper, but I'd be shocked if they abandoned the 5.8in OLED model so soon. I have the X and I think it's basically a perfect size. I'm not downgrading to an LCD screen, nor am I going to buy a 6.5in phone. That specific report (two LCD phones instead of one) seems more like bad info or even intentional misinformation.

Do not buy that crap! I got one and failed to returned.

1. Face ID is slow, is pure garbage. Most of the time I have to type my passcode any way so I deactivated face ID which... is useless any way.

2. Thy change the home button and put it on a side. Now I have to keep guessing the combination with the two other buttons and the left side to do the exact same things I used to do with my older iPhone 5 WHICH now feels superior.

3. The new camera may be better than other iPhones but is way inferior than Samsung.

At the end they just moved things around added clumsy features you do not need and with an X is $1000. Wait until I see Tim Cook.

With the margin and profit Apple is making, its is surprising to see that they would rather cut back production then cut prices on the iPhone X. Mobile phones are already expensive enough, without Apple bumping the price tag even further up, this doesn't make economic sense. For the price of an iPhone you can buy a nice TV set nowadays which less for at least 5 years compared to the 1 year of the iPhone......the magic is gone and people want value for money.

I, originally, bought the 8 Plus 256GB, but didn't feel it was anything special over my 7 Plus. I didn't NEED 256GB (I typically only use about 30GB). I had no trouble going for a 64GB X, which was only $50 more than the 8 Plus 256. I'll take FaceID and the new UI gestures any day over using a home button again. It's so much more natural to just swipe to get where you need to be, instead of press, press, press of the home button. The only thing I'm not crazy about, is the new way to force close an app, but I understand why it is the way it is, so I've adapted. Otherwise, it would be difficult for me to go back to any other iPhone with a home button. Oh, and the display is just brilliant.

I repeatedly said here in the forums before, that this price tag is ridiculous! There is a limit for everything, $1000+ for a smartphone is crossing that line for many people ... ofcourse, the die-hard apple fans will buy this, but after the initial hype it was quite clear to me that demand will plummet like a rock (compared to other iphone launches).

I have an iphone 6 (and it still works fine) and would like to upgrade it now, but at this price point I am either sitting out this cycle, hoping that apple comes to its senses next time or will wait for the launch of the Samsung S9 and maybe give that a go.

Apple don’t drop prices they rather raise it some more
iPhone 1 = Price drop
Battery install = Temporary price drop
iPhone SE = Price drop by $50
September 2016:
"The price of a brand-new iPad Pro just got a lot cheaper today after Apple slashed prices on both the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch models by up to $100."

Just an FYI for anyone who hasn't used an X: literally none of this is true.

I think apple made the mistake of having the same CPU in the lower priced device. This is the key. If they had made the X have the bionic and not the 8 then we would not have slower than normal sales. The other factor is the fact that they were so damn hard to get for so long. Then the ramp hit and everyone had moved on

Well if you own really expensive wired over-ear headphones that sounds better than the EarPods you're not going to buy EarPods just to get rid of the cable.

Buying outright, I'd agree with you. Couldn't imagine spending that amount of money on a phone.

However on monthly pricing I'm paying 52 quid a month for the 256GB model and with unlimited calls/texts/10GB 4G data through Sky mobile. Comparatively that's the same or cheaper than previous iPhone contracts I've had through EE/Vodafone, so it's not a huge biggie for me and I'm very happy with the phone.

Had I ponied up over a grand to buy it outright then I'm not sure I'd be so enthused.

I guess it was Apple being terribly greedy price wise. It really has proved that the market won't pay this huge price. I have one and I love it - I got the 256GB one - nearly the price of a new MacBook 12". However, I've been with my network provider for many years and get 25% off my monthly rental. There's no way that i'd of paid £73 a month.

In its defence, Apple have really worked hard this year with its beautiful quality cameras, build quality etc. Just a shame iOS11 was so buggy for 2-3 months.

As many friends have pointed out - it's almost the monthly price of leasing a brand new car!!! A FIAT 500. (£99 month).

I don't honestly see what Apple was supposed to do with the X. The price is crazy because the OLED panel. If they hadn't released an OLED phone they would've been raked over the coals for being behind Android. It's a lose-lose.

I think that, once again, analyst are selling scrap news...Since 2004 when I began to follow Apple news, Tony Sacconaghi is a bear Apple analyst. I think that price strategy was ok. Although volumes can be lower, total revenue will be much higher due to BETTER sales mix (+ASP). Early adopters all around the world are enjoying this spectacular iPhone no matter if it cost 100 more bucks...gratifycation plays an important role also in consumer behavior...What could probable happen is that some time ahead Apple decides to change product value proposition without changing prices. 1st Qtr results will be astonishing!

The phone is awesome upto what i could use in stores. But if you see the competitions releasing phones 1/6th the cost, that has all the features a user could ever use or needs, then 1000$ for X seems pretty high. I was almost on the verge of replacing my 6S with it but backed away as it just doesn't fit my salary level.
