Apple's Final Store With Original 2001 Entrance Closing for Renovations Tomorrow

Apple Tice's Corner in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey will be temporarily closed for renovations starting Tuesday, January 31, according to Michael Steeber, who writes a weekly newsletter about Apple's retail stores. A reopening date has yet to be announced.

The closure is notable given that Apple Tice's Corner is the company's only remaining retail store with an original 2001 storefront design, which consists of a black facade with two backlit Apple logos bookending the entrance. Steeber said the scope of the upcoming renovations is unclear, so it remains to be seen if the facade will be updated.

Apple Tice's Corner originally opened in November 2001, just months after Apple's first retail stores opened in Tysons, Virginia and Glendale, California. The latter two stores have already had their facades updated during past renovations.

Apple operates over 520 retail stores around the world and is preparing to open its first locations in India and Malaysia over the coming months.

How about giving the entrance a bezel-less Midnight facade? Or adding a couple of side doors while increasing the thickness of the exterior walls? Progress, you know!

Apple Tice's Corner store looks great as is. I prefer leaving it in the 2001 original footprint. Hopefully, Apple doesn’t get rid of the backlit Apple logos. They are iconic!

I visited this store when I picked up Jaguar (I believe it was jag). I can't believe it wasn't touched since it opened.
Was a bit of a hike to get there, but I got what I came for!

I still miss the Genius Bar. It was nice to have an actual place to go. Now you just wander around until someone comes up to help you wherever there is room. It is kinda janky.

Would love to walk into that store after it opened. Early digicams on display that you could actually snap pictures with in store and then hook them up to a powermac or a G3 and play with the photos. Bask in the third-party software issues…

They ought to leave it alone . Nothing wrong with the way it looks . Plus, it's my go to Apple store even though there's 2 closer inside enclosed malls . Never too crowded and I usually get in and out pretty fast . Guess I gotta put up with mall hell for a while .

Constantly changing in size, and customers have to jump through the Dynamic Island, to enter and exit the store. Set up a webcam out front to catch the activity. Now that would be entertaining!
