how can you value history if you get robbed every day. that area dangerousThis is one company that doesn't value history that much (not bad mouthing) its just part of its philosophy. Steve himself said it many interviews, they don't focus on the past very much. But in this case, I think they could have made an exception and keep it like the first Start Bucks in Seattle.
So they're moving far, far away I guess! 🤔so many thieves in that area so they're moving
Apple's first-ever store at Tysons Corner Center will soon be relocating within the shopping mall
Shows what some people don't know / think they know. Those that don't live in the DC area are quick to judge......the DC suburbs are just like any other. Also, please look up the definition of suburb. They can span miles outside of a city limit. All cities have violent sections vs. non violent ones. Tysons Mall is quite far from DC proper, for the record. Also....it's changing locations within the same mall. I've been there recently, I work about a mile away from Tysons.....the location is more or less moving due to remodeling / renovation. Has nothing to do with violence. Before you post something general about a place you seem not to know, check your info sir / ma'am.I bet it's moving because the current location is unsafe.
Steve, nor Tim, can control an environment they don't own that's being renovated.how can you value history if you get robbed every day. that area dangerous
It's literally moving a floor up and across the hallway from the original location. Last time I checked, one part of a mall is no less safe than another. If you don't have time to read the article, don't comment on it.I'll take that bet.
They are correct. The store is in the spot that will be under construction, adjacent to it. Tysons Mall is gonna have two high-rise buildings built right into the parts of the mall. One luxury apartment building next to Bloomingdales and another 40 stories office building in the spot where Lord&Taylor used to be. Apple is moving, because they would be literally in the construction zone, and the space is always extremely crowded. Are you stupid, blind, or both? It’s staying in the same mall on a different side!! This mall is in one of the nicer areas of the DMV, I can guarantee it isn’t a crime issue.
I thought I would have visited it by now. Looks like it's too late for me as I don't have plans to make that possible now.
Thanks for sharing. Strange that this is an app vs just a series of high quality videos but I’ll try it out. Hope it doesn’t have that recent malware in it. Always found it odd for TGE stores having plank ceilings & what purpose that served??If you want a real nostalgia trip, Michael Steeber put out this app, "The Apple Store Time Machine" for macOS and it's beautiful! https://departmentmap.store/timemachine
Being an Apple user in general used to feel like this, when the userbase was 100x smaller. The original store used to have all kinds of cases, bags, earphones, headphones, computer speakers. Overtime Steve Jobs gotta rid off anything that competed with products they introduced that competed with 3rd party products. Example iFi HiFi. Now when you walk into an Apple Store the diversity is very much lacking. Yes they have their various Apple products and devices, but the magic is gone from this earlier time of celebrating being an Apple Fan. In a way each store was a bit like a smaller MacWorld exhibit to explore and be fascinated by.
Do you not know what the phrase "I'll take that bet" means? I'm willing to bet money AGAINST that guy's assertion that the original location was unsafe. It's literally moving a floor up and across the hallway from the original location. Same here. I like how Apple manages to keep historic facades, such as Covent Gardens, or interesting architecture such as the one in Chicago on Michigan. Dubai’s has a great view.I have been to most of the ones around here except the wonderful one in the historic Carnegie Library building in DC; one of these days I'll get down there! Every time I travel, if there happens to be an Apple Store in the area to which I'm going I try to take a little time to visit that store, too.
I'm reminded of the massive anti-Apple crowd that poured in to mock the retail push, because CompUSA was doing such a great job already.
How did this happen 2 times in the comments? Lol. People ready to jump, without even knowing what they are talking about. Weird. I thought it was a pretty common phrase, but even if its not, if you just stop to think about it for a second… someone offered a bet, and you took it… seems pretty obvious that you are betting against each other, not agreeing.Do you not know what the phrase "I'll take that bet" means? Kinda unrelated, but adding ominous posters to Apple Stores with “A new chapter coming soon” or something similar with different easter eggs in the posters would be a really fun way to build hype for the headset over the coming weeks.
yes - at a part of the shopping mall where they're not as vulnerable. So they're moving far, far away I guess! 🤔
Tell me about it. The first guy was fine, because he misunderstood and politely "corrected" me. But the other guy pulled the ol' internet smart guy "you didn't read the article" schtick, and that's just embarrassing when he clearly didn't understand a common turn of phrase, lol.How did this happen 2 times in the comments? Sorry you had to explain this twice to people that are too triggered to think about something rationally before running to comment back. Same as the guy who didn’t read the article. People are so weird and kinda scary these days.

Also, you don't even have to read the article to be pretty damned sure that they weren't moving due to crime. You just have to have a passing knowledge of Tysons Corner. It's basically if Disney Springs (the retail shopping area of Disney World) were teleported into a wealthy Northern VA suburb.
