Outside of the wild profitability, huge margins, etc. There is no way this comes true anytime soon. Apple's ecosystem and moat are huge. It would take an enormous fall for me to switch and leave the iTunes ecosystem.....

Additionally, it's not like Apple is putting out terrible products. Their hardware is still large and part the best outside of fringe devices. No compelling reason to switch.
Other articles have said it would come out late 2026 early 2027

Exactly nobody is leaving Apple, unless smartphones become redundant. Even then, Apple will just flood the market wherever it's going and they don't have to be great, just good enough.

I have zero interest in a foldable phone. I'm one of the crazy ones who wants a smaller phones, not bigger. I always get the smallest Pro version, if I need a big screen I use my ipad or mac. It's getting to the point I don't want to upgrade at all anymore because they keep making the screen bigger and bigger every years. Plus I really don't want a plastic screen that will scratch and crease and look ugly within the first few months.

>> Apple does not innovate anymore!!!
>> Apple innovates
>> Oh no, but not like THAT. It will be flop!!!
They clearly didn't learn anything from the Vision Pro flop... They are following the same footsteps:

1) Grab something gimmicky that other companies already do
2) Add a super premium price tag on it to make it look the future of tech
3) People realize that it is not worth the money
4) Damage control it by saying that it's the future of tech but we are not ready for it yet.

If Apple releases something truely unique that has software that works perfekt with the foldable feature and hardware that stands out in terms of quality and durability I'm sure it will sell.

I imagine an iPhone in folded mode and an iPad in "open" mode, add a third unique feature such as hmmmm, built in cheese grater and call it a modern kinder egg.

A solution looking for a problem to solve, still.
People still not getting it or just being ignorant even with the Oppo Find N just released. Its simple - iPad Mini sized screen in the same sized chassis and weight as a 16 Pro Max (oh and bonus of another screen on top).

Also Apples foldable wont be $2,000 +, that is nonsense it will be priced similarly to the Galaxy Z Fold.

Even at double price this will likely be an insta-buy for me. Foldables are amazing and I can't wait to see Apple do this really well.

You have a lot of faith in Apple doing something really well. I remember how well those innovative butterfly keyboards worked...

I have noticed more foldable phones on international business class flights so there is a premium demand for them.

Hardware continues to shine, but the software needs polish – in many areas, not just Siri.

Until they show Snow Leopard levels of software polish and refinement, I don’t think I will be buying any new Apple hardware.

In an investor research note today with British bank Barclays, analyst Tim Long said Apple's first foldable iPhone could have a starting price in the $2,300 range in the United States, which would make it by far the most expensive iPhone model ever.

If the first foldable iPhone starts at $2,299, that means it would cost nearly twice as much as the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which starts at $1,199.

Long shared this pricing estimate following a recent trip to Asia, where his team met with hardware manufacturers. He said there is increasing discussion within the supply chain about a foldable iPhone launching in late 2026 to early 2027, but he believes that the device's higher starting price would unsurprisingly limit sales volume.

Earlier this month, Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the first foldable iPhone would be priced between $2,000 and $2,500, so multiple analysts agree that the device will cost at least a few thousand dollars. Kuo believes there could still be strong demand for the foldable iPhone despite its higher price, however, provided that the device's quality meets expectations. For example, Apple releasing a foldable smartphone without a visible crease in the screen would be a major breakthrough.

Kuo said the first foldable iPhone would feature a 7.8-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch outer display, two rear cameras, one front camera, a Touch ID power button instead of Face ID, and a high-density battery. He expects the device to be as thin as 4.5mm when unfolded, and between 9mm and 9.5mm when folded. He expects the device to have a titanium exterior, but the hinge would use a mix of titanium and stainless steel.

Kuo said the foldable iPhone would enter mass production in the fourth quarter of 2026.

With the foldable iPhone at least a year and a half away, keep in mind that this pricing estimate is surely just an educated guess.

And....Apple Intelligence still won't be fully functional....
