SD cards are far from obsolete. Other cards are only preferred for hi-end video and top of the line sports cameras, and even these often contain SD as well. Unless higher speeds are absolutely needed, SD cards are a smaller more economical choice. SD is the USB of removable storage. There are usually faster standards, but SD continues to be the most common while other standards die and are replaced.

My only complaint would be that it is a UHS-II slot instead of a UHS-III one. UHS-III adoption has hardly begun, but it’d be nice for future-proofing.
I’d have loved a combo CF-A slot like Sony is doing.

I'm merely curious to see what he's doing, because I don't miss him at all at Apple.

I'd be (admittedly pleasantly) surprised if he's behind ANY of the new Apple designs.
Some of his designs were great and served Apple and consumers alike:

The precious and current main design of the iMac from older CRT models. Great design and had legs.

Apple Watch - man that really set vision forward and it’s the best product as a wearable globally.

iPhone 4/4S/5/5S incredibly beautiful designs especially co pared to the competition at that time or most now.

Apple Power Mac G5 and it’s subsequent iterations designed for expansion. He had a great solution for cooling on these products somehow was a miss with 2016-‘20 MBP models.

These designed have lasted the test of time honestly. Sure he’s had some bad design mistakes but recognize the good ones too.

Yes, it's like I said in another post.

He designed both my favorite machines of all times, and my least favorites, unfortunately in that order.
