Bad that the 11” is not getting mini LED along with the 12.9” during its next refresh. Will be nice to see under screen FaceID on iPad though notch is a non issue.

14 inches is huge for a tablet. Possibly one for those who use their ipads to draw? I wonder how much it will cost?

Pretty sure these are gonna be positioned in the market as a second display for MacBooks or as a stationary media consumption device. Even the 12.9” sits on most peoples desk full time.

Ya I get that. I'm sure it's very much targeted to sell with keyboard and towards someone who doesn't need or want to buy a MacBook but still have an Apple computer.

Sounds like some exciting updates could be coming to the iPad. Not sure how I feel about a foldable iPad though...

Can we expect a refreshed 12.9" mini-led this autumn? I wanted to get one but, at this point, I'd rather get the new model.

No one knows. You can always wait, but if it doesn't happen are you going to wait agin until spring in case it happens then? And if not spring then what about next fall? You can play the perpetual waiting game, or you can enjoy having an iPad.

Please just dramatically upgrade the screen quality (and put the orientation back how it was) on the iPad mini!

There has to be a way to get macOS to sit alongside iPadOS, maybe a "lite" version of macOS that, when swiped over, or with some other gesture or keyboard input, allows you to get the desktop experience without the need for a reboot.
Basically like Samsung's Dex

Not in my experience (and I've owned more than one 12.9 incher and know other people who have them). We put them into keyboard cases off Amazon and sit with them in our laps 100% of the time.

Samsung’s Dex is not a separate operating system. Even a “lite” version of macOS would still be macOS on an iPad. So, not really like Samsung’s Dex.
Apple doesn’t need to implement a full Mac OS GUI/filesystem, just change the GUI to expose the filesystem, window the apps, etc.

I for one would love a 15’ inch iPad Pro.
While apple is at it, I would love a surface studio style iMac Pro

Then, that’s not macOS “lite” as it would not run macOS applications, which is what the original comment was referring to.

macOS will never sit alongside iPadOS. Stage Manager does Windowing now, but it is also unlike DeX, really.

I don't neet it urgently; I can wait a bit.

I just don't understand people that want macOS on an iPad.

The MBA is lighter, has more ports, is better at (traditional) multitasking, and is CHEAPER than and iPad with a Magic Keyboard. If you have to have one device, that is the one. That is, unless you have to draw.

Also, Stage Manager and its external monitor support suggests that macOS on iPad is simply not happening.

Just get both and use the best tool for the job at hand.

That said, I believe that Stage Manager (like the M1 before it) is Apple laying the groundwork for touch-based versions of Final Cut, Xcode, Logic, etc. for the iPad.

It's coming. I'm sure of it.

It would give Apple the opportunity to sell you the "same" software twice, or expand the market to non-Mac users like myself.

My perfect iPad (in order of preference):

1. ProMotion
2. XDR or OLED screen
3. 12.9 - 15" (depending on aspect ratio)
4. FaceID
5. iPadOS (sorry Mac fans)
6. 1TB+ storage
7. 16GB+ RAM
8. ~2lb Weight
9. External mouse/trackpad support
10. MagSafe Pencil
11. (Proper) External Drive support
12. (Proper) External Monitor support
13. None or simpler rear camera setup
14. No lidar
15. Built-in (Surface-like) kickstand

Once iPadOS 16 comes out, I'll get 12 out of 15 with the iPadPro, and I can live without the bottom 3.

That's near-perfect for me. I've waited 12 years for this device, and in the Fall it'll finally be here.
