Kind of neat, but I'd rather see it below the day's calendar, not appearing first.

I want to get the whole "NSA/PRISM" BS dealt with first before I allow any vendor to provide such tracking-based services.

I know how you feel. Normally I'd say, if you don't trust Apple not to give out your personal info, then how can you trust them not to transmit that info even when you've turned the feature off? Why be paranoid, when Apple's income doesn't come from personal data tracking? But that doesn't hold water when the "law" can step in and demand info that Apple themselves was only using legitimately on your behalf!

It's a good idea to have this and the weather in the notification center, but it's unbelievably stupid how they implemented it. Who wants to read a paragraph about what the weather is like when you can just show a picture and a number? Way too many words! Pure clutter.

How are they getting the weather to appear ?

Yeah weather or weather forecast is missing.

Also the Calendar list does nothing but take up space when empty.

I miss the stock ticker, that was a great use of space and allowed more information to be shown at once.

Overall, I would like for more things to be shown on one page, and avoid scrolling as much as possible.

This would be great with siri.

"Siri, what does today look like?"

Then siri verbally tells you all the info that this provides

You mean that it is a perfect rebrand of Google Now... right?

It seems from now onwards we don't need to guess any rumour for future updates... just list the most popular ones after each new version... and there you go, implemented in the next innovative, amazing, incredible, phenomenal, never seen before iOS

Like Siri right? Like 3D flyovers in Maps right? Like iCloud keychain and tight iCloud integration across Macs and iOS devices right?

To some degree though, it's inevitable that Apple will always be "catching up" at this point, since Google and its OEM partners throw absolutely everything at the wall hoping something will stick - which means a lot of half-baked features and gimmicks, but also means that anything Apple does during it's yearly updates has a reasonable chance of having "already been done" (usually with less style) by Google or some crappy OEM.

What's your point though? I still feel iOS is the superior experience, and as long as they keep improving it I really don't care where a feature popped up first.

Actually he just said it was competition. He didn't use any of those adjectives. It is competition.

You have a busy day tomorrow...

Notification: You have a busy day tomorrow maybe you should go to bed.
User: Go ****** yourself I don't need a freaking phone nagging me and telling me what to do.
Siri: I don't understand "Go ****** yourself I don't need a freaking phone nagging me and telling me what to do." Would you like me to search the Internet for that?
User: Where can I turn this notification type off?

I found this amusing as well! My phone is telling me to go to bed!

Well, common sense tells me we are still kids, doing the opposite what 'mum' says. Thus, the iphone may induce the the very reverse behaviour ...

"You are seeing another escort tomorrow, make sure to stop by Walgreens and buy more condoms"

so when everyone else does it is stealing, copying...etc - but when it is Apple we need to use "competitor"

I guess the dumbing down of Apple by iOS is almost complete.

I like it. I actually LOVE google now, but not on the iPhone. On the Galaxy S4 with widgets, it was the main feature of my phone. I went to nearby events with it and everything. The info was QUICK. When I went back to an iPhone, I immediately installed Google now. It just isn't the same.

This looks like it works the same way.

hopefully this "borrowing of idea" will finally end the ..."Google, Samsung, Android, etc, etc, copied/stole from Apple/iOS garbage...

I think the best part of Google Now is it's ability to read your email and Chrome searches. Without that, it's not nearly as useful.

I use it everyday to set alarms, the same I used Siri when I had an iPhone.

Great feature. Reminds me of this....

Nice - back in the day I used to have an iPaq, the Compaq PDA. That had a "today" view which I always thought was missing from the iPhone. A summary view of things. Sounds like Apple are finally adding it, turned all the way up to 11 with traffic, weather, and all in nice friendly text. Assuming it works, especially outside the US...

3D Map was introduced in Google Earth (for both PC and Android)way before Apple's iOS 3D map. Not to mention it is leaps and bounds better.
