It's a good idea to have this and the weather in the notification center, but it's unbelievably stupid how they implemented it. Who wants to read a paragraph about what the weather is like when you can just show a picture and a number? Way too many words! Pure clutter.

Agreed. In an OS update that is all about stripping down and minimizing with a focus on purpose, I don't need a grammatically correct paragraph telling me the traffic sucks.

Actually, that whole dashboard is a lot to take in-- highlight the stuff that's out of the ordinary. Is the temperature out of the ordinary this week? Is it going to rain? Is traffic worse than it was yesterday? Give me a destination, a number, and color code it if I care.

I think the best part of Google Now is it's ability to read your email and Chrome searches. Without that, it's not nearly as useful.

It is just showing what siri told you 2 years ago in text, one year before google now was a thing. Google now being a rehash of siri anyway.

"She was such a pretty girl. And so nice. I just can't understand why you dumped her for that slutty hussy you're seeing now. I mean did you see what she was wearing today? It left NOTHING to the imagination. I don't like her. I think she's gonna break your heart. Also I think she's stealing from you.

Oh, and did you know you have a busy day tomorrow? You really need to get a good nights sleep if you plan on tackling all that. You don't want to be sleepy for that big meeting, do you? It makes you look totally unprofessional. Plus the weather tomorrow? Can you believe it? At this time of year? I think you should consider wearing a sweater so you don't catch your death. What about that cute little one you got for Christmas a couple of years ago? I always thought you looked so good in that..."

DAMNIT, SIRI! SHUT THE HELL UP! I'M TRYING TO WATCH A MOVIE!

"Such language! Why when I was your age, if I ever talked to a friend like that..."

NNRRRUUUUAAAAAHHHHHHH!

You mean that it is a perfect rebrand of Google Now... right?

It seems from now onwards we don't need to guess any rumour for future updates... just list the most popular ones after each new version... and there you go, implemented in the next innovative, amazing, incredible, phenomenal, never seen before iOS

I never thought about it that way, but yes, it has been very easy to predict Apple's next change by looking at their competitors. iRadio, Today, graphic design.

Interesting.

Google stole from apple every thing they could. Maybe apple is returning the favor?

Let google and friends do some research, and if it stick, let apple steal it... Just as those other guys have done to apple. In any case, isn't this a case of 'convergence of design'?

Well done sez I.

Apple competing with Google. That's a good thing.

I wonder how google and friends like them apples?

hopefully this "borrowing of idea" will finally end the ..."Google, Samsung, Android, etc, etc, copied/stole from Apple/iOS garbage...
so when everyone else does it is stealing, copying...etc - but when it is Apple we need to use "competitor"

I guess the dumbing down of Apple by iOS is almost complete.
Can we please put an end to this nonsense? I'm so tired of having to read through dozens of "who stole what from whom" posts. Apple innovates. Google innovates. Google Now was innovative. Today innovates on top of Now. You're not going to win this argument. Nobody is. Can we stop?

This argument doesn't even belong in this thread. If the thread was "Apple wins innovation award for Today feature", then you'd have a beef. It's not. This thread is about including traffic information in a feature that is similar to one provided by Google. Most people don't really care where the good ideas come from-- they just want to benefit from as many as possible. If you're carrying in a grudge from another thread, please just quote this article in that thread and continue your argument there.

If you're going to come into an Apple oriented forum and complain about a perceived bias in language, you're going to get laughed at for expecting anything different. If you're going to complain that an Apple marketing person keeps marketing Apple as innovative, you're going to get laughed at for expecting anything different. If you think you're going to change the behavior of Apple marketing by posting to a forum, you're going to get laughed at for trying. If you think you're going to make Apple fans change their language by shouting into the wind you're going to get laughed at for trying.

Please. Stop. Everyone.

For someone that doesn't use Chrome or Gmail though this doesn't mean much.

Well in this case, it would have to be Safari and iCloud mail. I'm just saying that browser integration and email are key for Google Now, and would be for any Apple alternative.

Settings?

Where can I find this to turn it on in settings? I looked in settings but there is no option beyond the "today" option to turn it on and off? Is it automatic then?

SIRI-
"I've noticed that you have been at the bar for 2 hours and you're on your 13th round of shots, perhaps I can call you an escort service and reservations to the Betty Ford Clinic in the morning. Until then, here is a list of know convicted cocaine dealers recently released from prison in the past 6 months"

While I agree, I may have to remind you that this is a beta, and very likely to change for the same exact reasoning.

The government has proven that whatever data exists, it has direct access to.

According to Snowden in the exclusive South China Morning Post (Hong Kong) interview the NSA hacks into the backbone instead of individual devices to intercept communications...

I like it. I actually LOVE google now, but not on the iPhone. On the Galaxy S4 with widgets, it was the main feature of my phone. I went to nearby events with it and everything. The info was QUICK. When I went back to an iPhone, I immediately installed Google now. It just isn't the same.

This looks like it works the same way.
Also this will be using info of Apple Maps instead of Google's...

So when Google creates a predictor/assistant service that uses your information its creepy and an invasion of privacy, but when apple does it its innovative and clever?
