My brother has an iPhone X and he keeps telling me how Face ID isn't as convenient as touch ID. Is he simply "holding it wrong" or do you really have to be at least within a certain distance and angle to unlock the phone with Face ID? He misses simply touching the phone to quickly check stuff on the phone vs having to lean over every time. This is especially true when working and the phone is laying flat on the desk or when he is driving (no, you shouldn't operate the phone while driving, but he kinda was proving his point with how Face ID may not have been thoroughly tested for every use case).
It needs to be a certain distance away from your face (about 10 inches).

Do you miss your flip phone, too?

Nope but thanks for asking.

Do you miss your pager? Seems like just as relevant of a question. Comparing current technology vs extinct technology.

Oh wait you were just being a jerk and snipping a sentence of my original post. How long did it take for you to think of that gem?

No, it was a form of protest.

But prove me wrong: tell me you did have a good reason to come here and write how things used to be better before, like many of those that would turn Macrumors into a negative and sad place, instead of just returning your phone and getting one of the many phones out there that have the things you want?

It’s not you, your post was just the tipping point. It’s the amount of posts here focusing on the negative, sucking any joy or usefulness out of this forum. The number of posts here criticizing every single change Apple ever does is astounding. You’d think they somehow tricked you into believing there’s Touch ID on the X.

Seriously, man, if you miss Touch ID - get a phone that has it, and come here to tell people how you like it. Get an iPhone 6S, 7 or 8, get a Pixel, get a Galaxy S or a Note - come here and explain why you love these phones - no one will mind or bother you.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm not interested in looking at the design of the HomePod inspired by some other unknown source. But I can give you my insights when I when I purchase the HomePod when it releases in 2018.

it's known source, he informed you of that source ;)
you should look at it and see what the competition offers, check the services you maybe pleased. Keeping a blind eye is never a good thing - unless it's completely corrupt foul, vile, and completely against anything you believe or hold dear in your life - but you have to at least know about it before making such decisions.

oh well I'm sure like you many others will provide good feedback upon the HomePod purchase.

It sucks! They should make the display touch id, i can't wait till they release an Apple watch with touch id built into the screen (instead of having to type a password).

A camera wouldn't work on the watch so this has to be something apple is working on!

So I can only come in here and say how great everything is about an apple product? It’s called a forum for a reason you can discuss the good and bad or whatever you want about apple products. Just because I miss certain things doesn’t mean I don’t like the phone either. Go look at my post where I say the reasons why I like my X and why I keep it. Fanboys need to get off there high horse and look at apple more objectively. Not everything they do is perfect and there is nothing wrong with people pointing that out.
