I'm wondering if anyone from Apple actually USES the Maps app for driving?
Best example: it's amazing to me how users cannot use the iPhone Maps app for watching real-time traffic conditions while using it for routing, as the SOLID blue route line overlies the colored traffic lines. What an amazingly stoopid (sic) oversight, and one that should've been picked up during preliminary beta-testing (FWIW, Google Maps also fails on this point, as well).
Of course, the solution is simple: implement route lines as dash-dot lines, i.e. NOT solid lines, and keep traffic conditions as solid lines. That way a user can easily see the traffic condition indicator underneath the route line (without needing to fiddle with the iPhone to deselect either route or traffic conditions while driving).
I'm sure the bright engineers Apple hires will get right on it.
Verizon disclosed some info on the iphone going on they're network but if you read the article it doesn't seem to add up. Any feedback on this would be helpful because i'm really considering buying the iphone on verizon.
CoPilot is a full featured navigation app and I think I paid $19.95 for the North America version. Works pretty well. I have seen the US only version for as little as $4.99 on sale before.
