Why are people reporting an A9 with 1GB or RAM? Do we seriously think they're going to make a completely new chip just for the 5SE just to screw over users?

New watch bands...talk about flogging a dead horse.
Yes it may have outsold all competitors combined, but lets be real, it's no homerun. It's a niche product from that will fade away in the next 2-3 years.

It can't be A9, more powerful than iPhone 6 but cheaper? It'll probably be A8 which is like a more efficient just slightly more powerful A7.

Seriously. I could care less about the damned watch, and periodic phone improvement are like clockwork at this point -- but Macs and Macbooks are left to languish. Sucks that Apple has lost focus on their original core products...
Not that I wouldn't like updated Macs...but for Apple to continue to thrive it MUST move on from its core products. Disruption comes from below: it was incumbent on them to disrupt the computer market, just as it will be for it to disrupt the phone-and-tablet market, etc. The same goes for any company that is entrenched in mature technology.

I'm pretty interested, actually, in seeing where the product is in 2-3 years. True, might fade away, but I think it's more likely it evolves into something very useful and cool.

iPhone 7 (4.0")
32 GB - $349.99
64 GB - $449.99
128 GB - $549.99

iPhone 7 (4.7")
32 GB - $449.99
64 GB - $549.99
128 GB - $649.99

iPhone 7 (5.5")
32 GB - $549.99
64 GB - $649.99
128 GB - $749.99
264 GB - $849.99
You expect Apple to drop the price of their main iPhone (by sales) by $200 (entry-level 4.7" iPhone going from $649 to $449) and on top to increase the storage space at the same time? Dropping their gross margin from maybe $250 to $50 per phone (applying their overall 40% gross margin, a very rough approximation as we don't know what margin they make on this particular model)?

Yeah, 11 months with no updates. That's scandalous.

The core i7 with 28 TDP for the 13" rmb is still not launched - so no idea where you guys are getting your months and months from.
Why should they bother with facts. Outrage is so much more fun if you don't have to care about such details.

What will that matter? They have to kill the Air for the MacBook the make a comeback. There isn't room for both. If they add more power to the MacBook, then the Air is basically useless. Apple has gone crazy with thinness and their product line. 2015 MacBook was on par with a 2011 laptop. How else can that possibly screw things up
Sure, let's add some 'power' to a 4.5 W CPU-based laptop to make the 15 W CPU-based laptops obsolete.

I'm still crossing my fingers for pencil support on the Air 3. I ordered a pencil this morning and if there is no pencil support, I'll return it and stick with my Air 2 until either iPad Pro 2 or an Air that does have pencil support.

I'd love to see the MBP body updated to look more like MB. Skylake alone is pretty underwhelming. If the body doesn't change, buying last year's model at a deep discount seems like the better way to go.
I think what people most wait for is Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C (where the former includes latter). Which is expected to be somewhat correlated with Skylake.

Knowing that Microsoft is having problems with Skylake cpus for their Surface product, why would you blame Apple for not updating their computers until Intel can deliver problem-free cpus in the volume Apple requires?

Intel delivers problem-free CPUs, that has been driver issues, which are already fixed.
But without 28W CPUs no updated Macbook Pro 13", so it doesn't really matter.
Or Apple is going to use 15W CPUs for the Pro, which I definetely don't hope for, but it wouldn't surprise me either.

They wouldn't hold a full event without real product news. I'm guessing they're also going to release new MacBooks.

If it's an A8 then what's the incentive for users of the 5S to upgrade? It's certainly a little faster than the A7 currently in the 5S, but it's not "replace my phone" faster when the current generation is *significantly* higher performance than the A8 with a delta that is only going to increase in a few months.

Well if I quote the article "...1,624 mAh battery, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth 4.2, Apple Pay, VoLTE, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and 16GB and 64GB storage models, but 3D Touch appears unlikely."

There are a lot of other things they can tweak, as well as a more iPhone 6 like form factor perhaps. It's just too soon for Apple to put the latest chip in the "cheapest" iPhone... mostly because of the iPhone 6, otherwise they could do what they did with the iPod Touch and match the current flagship.

There's never talk of computers anymore. Like the only thing in the Apple world is iPhone and iPad. I'm a little frustrated by this. I've been waiting for a MBP refresh and if doesn't happen soon I have to switch to Windows. I mean, seriously, it's close to a year since a refresh.

Right, so like I said - not much in the way of incentives for 5S users. The battery on my 5S is pretty good, even after all this time (bought it pretty much when it launched), I have 32GB storage already, have limited use for ac class wifi on the phone, minor BT upgrade but 4.0 is already pretty decent (and works with all my BT peripherals).

The only real selling point is the Apple Pay connectivity, which is what all 5S users have been saying for ages, but that alone, and maybe VoIP if you happen to use that.

If this update turns out to be a 5S with an A8 and ApplePay, then it's not really good value to upgrade, especially if it means choosing between 16 and 128 GB.

They were waiting for Intel, so how would switching to Windows help?
They're likely close to a refresh now.

My hopes:

4" iPhone option that isn't gimped for those who want the smaller form factor, which sometimes I wish I had a 4" phone as well.

iPad Air 3 pretty much a shrunken down iPad Pro. I'd like to see the Apple Smart Keyboard for the iPad Air 3 and the stereo speakers.

This is what I'm wishing for!

If the screen resolution isn't improved much and they put a A9 in there, battery life would be impressive.
