isn't that were the mockup came from? that is what i thought to be honest...correct me if i am wrong.

You are wrong and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Those mock ups came from some no life dude who machined them himself from specs of rumors.

Look at the source of the rumor. A big investor in apple? Of course they want rumors to help carry apple stock after the usual post iPhone release dip. That way his investment keeps its value. An investor wouldn't have anymore insight than you or me.

With iPod Touch pricing starting @ $299, how can iPad Mini possibly cost $299 - $349?:confused:

hilarious (when i read from AI first and here next).

I will get one if it with in the price ($299 to $349) range.

I wonder if Apple can pull all the sales in the next 12 weeks or so (for this quarter)?

remember the new iPod touch not even on sale yet.

Rumored dates about a rumored event about a rumored product.

Rumorception.

That´s what I was about to say.

(I´d also like to add that I couldn´t care less about that probably just as dim-witted iPad mini. I most urgently demand a new 27" iMac, Apple! For I shall immediately throw my hard-earned money at you in return!)

Could the iPad mini not be 7 inch but instead a 5 inch?? I mean I read yesterday that Sharp is now producing 5 inch displays with full hd capabilities with around 440ppi?? That would be better than a 7.85 which is not much smaller than the regular iPad!!

just an example.

the new iPad 16GB starts at $499; where as iPhone 4S 16GB Starts at $550 and iPhone 5 16GB starts at $650

iPod market there is no alternate to apple; biggest market share
where as iPad/iPad mini there are competition

Most iPad apps would be completely unusable on a 5". A finger driven interface needs its elements to be a certain minimum size

Nobody needs 440 PPI. Even the most eagled-eyed amongst us have trouble spotting pixels at 300PPI. Plus, more PPI means more power-consumption due to a much denser display structure. So you would basically throw your precious battery life at nothing but the sheer number. That wouldn´t make any sense, would it?
Plus, from a marketing perspective, that would put it too close to the iPod touch and the iPhone and thus keep (sane) people from buying both. Apple doesn´t want that.

If you wish to run existing iPad apps on this tablet then there are only two possible resolutions to begin with: 1024x768 and 2048x1536. The latter will give you 326ppi at 7.85".

but the rumors never said 7.85" iPad Mini @ 2048x1536 all along it was rumored @ 1024x768 - primarily to save cost.

7.85" iPad mini @ 2048x1536 - the display alone will cost about $80 to $100; I do not think we will see that at $299 price point.

we will see.

buy one then!

With the new more powerful graphic cards available for the iMac and Mac Mini, any updates to the line are unlikely to be just a spec revision.

And for those of us who work the Adobe Suite which is more and more dependent on graphics cards to do a good chunk of the heavy lifting, that is a big deal. So many people are in a holding pattern.

We can't just "buy one then!" but thanks for your hostile response anyway.

if the iPad Mini comes with newly upgraded hardware, I will get it for Sure! but if its just the same as an iPad 2, forget it !!!

it will be almost same like iPad 2

exceptions
* Dock connector
* in cell display @ 1024x768
* FaceTime HD camera
* 5 Mega Pixel back Camera

everything else should be same to save cost $$$. it would be tough to achieve $299 price point - you would not get A6 until next revision.

There is a huge market for small tablets out there which Apple has been ignoring. They are joining the party pretty late actually.

It will be interesting to see the sales dynamic with the iPad mini following
instead of leading the Kindle, Nexus and other small form tablets.

I'd love one but only if Retina, if not I'll wait till the next year when it gets one, can't see buying one without a retina screen

No offense taken, thank you. That is why I requested someone to correct me if my assumption was incorrect. Time will tell I guess...

Invitations Going Out October 10? Copy for invitations saved on exec's MacBook? Tim Cook to step down at some point in the future?

Christ. I know this is MacRumors, but get ahold of yourself. This isn't news.
