I'd like a release of iOS 6.0.1, just to address issues with the App Store not working right if you have too many apps tied to your account.

i didn't know it was wide spread issue. i thought it was only me. another weird thing, i updated all 3 ipads in my home to iOS 6 and none of them came out of recovery mode after the update finished. had to use tinyumbrella to get them out of recovery. and i thought that was what caused the app store problems.

It's a catch phrase by Ray William Johnson (you can look him up on YouTube, he's really fun to watch) ;)

He's a total ****, I wouldn't waste my broadband even looking for him, unfortunately I had the pleasure of seeing him on YouTube from a friend. Not funny, actually quite pathetic humour!

he use to be funny. he's been around for years posting videos biweekly. i think it's safe to say he is out of jokes. but recently he has been having guest hosts who made me laugh my ass off. Romany Malco (a famous actor who played in 40 year old virgin) was one of them.

Very true, I did see Romany and it was funny...more funny than him for sure.:p

I hope Apple will announce more than just the iPad mini. New iMac's and Mac mini's would be nice!

Exactly! Ditto on both points. I want to replace my 'aging' macmini which serves as a main workstation at home, with either an Ivy Bridge (and USB3)-equipped iMac and/or MacMini. Not a peep from Apple so long as they are focussed only on their iToys.

Resolution will be 1024x768 and Ipad2 will be discontinued because Mini will sport the same hardware with better rear camera.
I hope to see new Imacs as well, maybe the day after earnings call, even because would be the last 2012 Imac..call.

Has there been any rumors of the iPad mini sporting an infrared port? If it does, then it makes the possible for the iPad mini to become a true universal remote control device for something like a home theater system.

I seriously doubt Apple would put an infrared port on it. Especially given the fact that they're slowly stripping them away from their Mac lineup.

Can someone rationally explain why one would slap $400-$500ish on an oversized iPod touch?

Isn't that EXACTLY what people said about the very first iPad?

All and dead technology. No thanks. Only useful in TV remotes.

but the rumors never said 7.85" iPad Mini @ 2048x1536 all along it was rumored @ 1024x768 - primarily to save cost.

7.85" iPad mini @ 2048x1536 - the display alone will cost about $80 to $100; I do not think we will see that at $299 price point.

we will see.

Aren't you basing that panel price on the 9.7" size of that same resolution? A 7.85" size (again, we have not seen a feasible panel at this size) might cost more I think, but I could be wrong.

Do people think this thing will launch with 1024x768? That's only 163 ppi. The only resolution that is Retina-ish that might work is 1600x1200 (same aspect ratio as new iPad). Have we even seen a panel like this?

That part would surface if this rumor was true. It takes what, 2-3 months for production to ramp up once realistic parts have been spotted and manufacturing has begun. If they announce in October they'd need at least 2 months for production. That puts it dangerously close to Christmas.

I think that sounds off and I could be wrong. A mini I think will be more popular that the larger iPad.

No panel part, no credibility...

I'd agree for a regular Mac, but the iPad mini with an IR port could turn it into the ultimate home theater remote, with more control flexibility than any Logitech Harmony remote controller! :D

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that more Americans than ever now own tablets, but if you'd ever wanted some quantifiable data to go along with that homespun wisdom, then the Pew Research Center is glad to help. According to its latest report, 22 percent of US adults now own a tablet of some form. While the iPad remains the dominant player in the space with a 52 percent market share, this figure starkly contrasts the 81 percent share that Pew reported in 2011. As you might expect, Android tablets have made significant inroads and now account for 48 percent of the overall tablet space. Leading the Android charge is the Kindle Fire, which alone accounts for 21 percent of all tablets sold. It's worth pointing out that Pew's survey was conducted before the release of either the Nexus 7 or the Kindle Fire HD, which means that even the most recent information is a bit behind the curve.

Ipad USA 2012: 52% share
Kindle Fire USA 2012: 21% share
other Android: 27% share

The launch of the Ipad Mini will help Apple with its tablet market share.

if its not oct 17 can it be oct 24? i thought they had the shares going on around than so a event around that time seems unlikely.
